From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The second half is about to get underway. Nathan Redmond comes on for James Ward-Prowse in the only change at halftime.
I'm not too sure why James Ward-Prowse has come off at halftime. He was one of Southampton's more creative players in the first half.
47: Nathan Redmond finds Sofiane Boufal on the left side of the area. He cut in a fires a low shot which Asmir Begovic is equal to.
50: Jermain Defoe and Josh King combine in the box and King fizzes a low shot across goal. The ball is heading just beyond the far post and Junior Stanislas tries to get a touch on it at the back post but narrowly arrives too late.
54: Quick feet from Josh King draws a foul from Oriol Romeu. The fans call for a yellow card but the former Chelsea player only receives a talking to.
What a game Nathan Ake is having this afternoon. He is winning every duel, making tackles and playing a part in a very well organised defence. Another missed opportunity by Chelsea?
57: Bournemouth work the ball via almost every player in the team to Junior Stanislas who hits a tame shot from the edge of the area which is easily saved.
58: Southampton trouble Asmir Begovic with a series of goal-mouth scrambles. The latest is met by Dusan Tadic but Bournemouth get enough bodies in the way to turn the ball behind for a corner.
