From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Arsenal have an immediate chance to gain revenge over Manchester City for their EFL Cup final defeat last weekend as they host the Premier League runaway leaders at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night in their rearranged weekend fixture.
With the match set to go ahead despite the widespread snowstorms that have battered the United Kingdom this week, Arsenal will hope for a very different result than the one they experienced at Wembley last Sunday. The Gunners head into the match 10 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, and another loss this evening would come as another serious blow to their top four hopes.
City meanwhile can restore a 16-point lead at the top of the Premier League table if they can secure the three points away from home, which would leave them just six more wins away from claiming the title. Having dispatched Arsenal 3-0 in comfortable circumstances last Sunday, Pep Guardiola’s side will be confident of another win to throw Arsenal’s season into further peril.

Leroy Sane on City's win: "I think we had a really good first half. We played really well and of the three goals, two were counter-attacks where we played really well. Everybody who had to score the goal scored the goal."

Post-match reaction from Pep Guardiola
On City's win: "It is so difficult to win two games in a row against teams like Arsenal and we did it. The conditions were so tough. It was so important today to win. We won now and we have another step forward. We need five wins to be champions and every win is a step closer."
On the quality of his team's goals: "All of the goals were nice. Ederson was also outstanding, saving the penalty was important. We started the second half poorly but sometimes it's difficult to be focused for 90 minutes so I can understand that."
