Newcastle United defeated Arsenal 1-0 at home in their last league match to snap a five-match winless streak, putting them in 12th place on 15 points. The previous league fixture between these sides saw Newcastle emerge victorious 3-2 at The City Ground last season. Bruno Guimaraes led the Magpies with two goals, scoring in the 10th and 66th minute. Fabian Schar was also on the scoresheet. Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi were the scorers for Forest.
