Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle United
Newcastle come away from the City Ground with three points after a superb second half sees them notch a 3-1 away win. In a relatively even, fast-paced encounter, Murillo's powerfully-taken header was the difference maker in the first half. Elanga's free-kick cross picked out the Brazilian in the 23rd minute and he headed down past Pope for his first Forest goal in 47 club appearances. After the break, the Magpies were a changed side, managing to adapt to the frenetic tempo. Isak restored parity in the 54th minute, as a corner wasn't cleared by the hosts. It dropped to the Swede, and he fired in off the left post. In the 72nd minute, the visitors were deadly on the counter to double their tally as Joelinton came in off the right to curl in off the left post. Barnes' introduction from the bench brought goal number three as Howe's side strode away from the men in red. Again, it was a counter, as several passes carved through Forest before Barnes jinked in from the left to hit the bottom-left corner with power. After their 0.58 xG outing, the defeated Forest stay in third. Their 1.56 xG visitors Newcastle go eighth after this victory. Thank you for joining us today, goodbye!
