This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Gibbs-White floats the ball out to Elanga on the left, who cuts inside onto his right foot and delivers into the penalty area, but Branthwaite is there to head away the danger. Forest are now turning up the pressure as Hudson-Odoi also looks to whip in a cross, but it evades everyone. Cooper needs more from his side in the final third.

Forest look to catch Everton out with a quick free-kick, looking to find Elanga beyond the defence. Pickford rushes out, but Mykolenko is there to poke the ball behind for a corner. Elanga almost got there before it went out, firing into the side netting, but the assistant had his flag up, signalling for a corner.

The goal is what Everton have deserved in the second half. Dyche clearly had some strong words at half-time and his side have enjoyed 57.5 per cent possession since the break. The Toffees have also managed five shots to Forest's three, with the home team still yet to test Pickford.

With Everton on top in the second half, Forest have a rare opportunity to attack on the break. Elanga receives the ball out wide and cuts inside onto his stronger right foot, finding Gibbs-White outside the area. He looks to float a cross towards the back post, but he can't find Wood and it goes behind for a goal-kick.

Tarkowski fires the ball into the feet of Beto who is able to turn on the edge of the penalty area and stand up his marker. The Portuguese striker shifts it out of his feet and unleashes a shot from outside of the box, but it flies into the stands behind the goal. That sums up his game so far, with the Everton forward looking frustrated.

Harrison finds Gueye who has burst forward from midfield into the box, but his powerful cross is deflected behind for a corner. McNeil is standing over it and delivers into the middle, but it's cleared to the edge of the area. Beto receives the ball with his back to goal and lays it off to Gueye, but his shot is blocked and Forest clear.

It's another opportunity from a free-kick for Everton as Wood fouls Garner inside the Forest half. It's not within shooting range, but the Toffees have filled the box. Garner plays short to McNeil who delivers, but Felipe is there to head away the danger.

Young takes the resulting free-kick after McNeil does well to win it, but he fires it into the wall and it's behind for a corner. The delivery comes in and Forest are able to clear. The ball eventually finds Mykolenko who fires a cross into the box, but once again Cooper's side deal with the danger.
