From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Manchester City avoided becoming the latest top-flight side to stumble at the hands of League Two Newport County at Rodney Pardade thanks to a late flurry of goal.
The 4-1 scoreline is perhaps a tad harsh on the home side who defended very well, but second half goals from Leroy Sane, and Riyad Mahrez either side of Phil Foden's double was the difference.
Padraig made it 2-1 with just minutes of normal time remaining as Newport threatened to mount a late comeback, but Foden added his second before Mahrez completed the job in added time.
City will learn their opponents in the quarter-final draw on Monday night. Re-live the action below:

Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall
36 minutes
Millwall enjoy their first real spell of prolonged pressure, with some nice buildup play. It ends disappointingly, though, as Jed Wallace blazes an ambitious shot over the bar.
Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall
37 minutes
Sibbick, who has been lively on the right for Wimbledon, wins a corner. Wordsworth's ball in is poor, though, and Archer comes out to claim it easily.
Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall
42 minutes
Wimbledon work the ball nicely on the edge of the box and Sibbick is found in space on the right. But he can't beat the first man with his cross and Millwall come away with the ball.
Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall
45 minutes
Wallace's cross deflects into the path of Ferguson, who has a go on the half volley but sees his effort blocked. Millwall have been wasteful in the final third and Wimbledon will not feel overly troubled.
Half time: Jon Moss brings the first half to a close. Wallace's early goal is all that separates the sides, but it's been an even game in all areas. Millwall have not really looked like the higher division side and Wimbledon will be confident that they can find a way back into the game.
Wimbledon get us back underway. The hosts have made a half time change, too: Andy Barcham replaces Tyler Garratt.
Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall
47 minutes
The hosts win a free kick early in the half, which is whipped in dangerously by Hartigan. No one in a blue shirt is there to meet it, though, and it runs through to Archer.
Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall
50 minutes
Wimbledon come forward with purpose and Barcham looks to find room for a shot in the box. The substitute is crowded out and Millwall clear for a corner, which comes to nothing. But this has been a promising start to the second half for the home side.
Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall
51 minutes
Sibbick cuts inside from the right and goes for goal on his left foot. It appears to take a deflection, but a goal kick is given to the frustration of the home fans.
