The 4-1 scoreline is perhaps a tad harsh on the home side who defended very well, but second half goals from Leroy Sane, and Riyad Mahrez either side of Phil Foden's double was the difference.
Padraig made it 2-1 with just minutes of normal time remaining as Newport threatened to mount a late comeback, but Foden added his second before Mahrez completed the job in added time.

Newport have a glimmer of hope, but City immediately snatch it away. Foden sets off on another jinking run, beats a couple of players and fires past Day to add City's third and put the tie to bed.

City win a free kick in shooting range and Sane drills his effort against the wall. A fourth goal would be harsh but that won't concern this relentless City side.

And there is the fourth. Mahrez is picked out on the left, with time and space to find the bottom corner. That's exactly what he does, firing past Day at the near post.
Full time: It ends 4-1, but that is not a full reflection of the way the game went. Newport were well in the game in the first half and even put themselves back in contention with Amond's late goal. City, though, had too much quality in the end.
Amond, with that late goal, made it five from seven appearances in the FA Cup this season. He's been the star of this impressive run to the fifth round and, like his teammates, deserves all the plaudits he's getting.
Pep Guardiola has given his verdict on the game to BT Sport:
It was a really tough game. They scored a goal – a stupid goal – at the end and Phil’s goal helped the team to not suffer at the end. A big compliment to all the guys who played today. The first 15-20 minutes were difficult. They were much, much better than us. But the last 50 minutes we were good. Winning here – I realise what English football is today – we are not used to these types of games. That is why the Cup is so difficult.
