This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

CHANCE! City could be three goals to the good. Foden finds Haaland beyond the Brighton defence with a perfectly weighted pass. The prolific striker controls the ball well and cuts back onto his left foot, before looking to bend one beyond Steele. However, the keeper makes an excellent save to keep the game at 2-0.

Foden and Doku link up well deep inside the Brighton half as the former latches onto a throughball in the penalty area. He fires a cross across the box into a dangerous area, but Steele gets a hand to it and diverts it away from the City attacker's waiting in the middle.

Igor makes a reckless challenge on Stones on the edge of his own box and City are awarded a free-kick. Alvarez and Silva are standing over it as Steele sets up his wall. Alvarez looks to curl it towards the top corner, but it flies over the bar.

It's been a second half of minimal opportunities for both teams. Neither side have managed more than one touch in the opposition box since the game got back under way.

Foden uses his pace to skip past March on the right-hand side and finds himself inside the Brighton box. His cross deflects off the defender and almost creeps behind for a corner, but Steele collects and the Seagulls regain possession. March had to be careful not to bring the England international down after his early booking in the first half.

CHANCE! Adingra finds Gross inside the City box in space with a superb throughball between the defenders. The Brighton midfielder evades the offside trap and closes in on Ortega, but he gets his shot all wrong and it goes wide of the post. He should do better and it was a great opportunity for De Zerbi's side to get back into the game.
