Liverpool came from behind to knock AC Milan out of Europe with a 2-1 victory at San Siro on Tuesday, as goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi helped a second-string Reds side finish the Champions League group stage with a perfect record.

Milan needed to win to stand any chance of progressing to the last 16 and went in front through England defender Fikayo Tomori in the first half, to the delight of the home support.

But Salah soon equalised with his 20th goal of the season in all competitions and Origi, who came on to score a stoppage-time winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday, headed home Liverpool’s second after the break.

Juergen Klopp’s side became the first English team to win every Champions League group game in a single campaign, finishing top of Group B with 18 points.

RB Leipzig 0 - 0 Man City

Kick off: Manchester City are out in their dreadful third kit tonight, it truly is a shocker. Both teams take the knee and then the home side get the ball rolling.

Emil Forsberg and Angelino attempt to combine to move the ball down the left wing but Riyad Mahrez is in the mix and he forces the ball back towards Leipzig’s own goal.

RB Leipzig vs Man City: Pep Guardiola’s pre-match thoughts

We have a really good team, everyone can play, deserves to play and the ones to stay in Manchester played a lot of minutes recently. Good enough to try and compete with Leipzig.

“It is about how you are going to feel, Kevin de Bruyne can play 40, 50 or 60 minutes and I don’t know the consequences of his Covid.

“We are comfortable playing this way. What you change is the quality of the players. The idea is that we have success, we believe in it 100%.

“It is difficult, a new manager we don’t know exactly what he will do. Leipzig have their own philosophy, it is not going to change. The board don’t accept playing another way. There will be gegenpressen and we are going to try and play in our rhythm.”

The teams are gathering in the tunnel. On paper this should be an easy win for Pep Guardiola’s menbut with Leipzig you just never know how they’ll turn out.

Could be a good one this.

RB Leipzig are hoping to secure a spot in the Europe League by finishing ahead of Club Brugge in Group A.
