From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Midfielder Pogba had his spot-kick saved by Rui Patricio – his fourth penalty miss in a year – as United drew 1-1 at Molineux.
It came after Neves curled in a brilliant second-half leveller to cancel out Anthony Martial’s 50th United goal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side missed the chance to top the early Premier League table despite a dominant first-half display.
Wolves’ second-half rally earned them a point and they now travel to Torino for the first leg of their Europa League play-off on Thursday.

46 minutes
Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial sprint away from a two-pronged kick-off, curiously a couple of yards apart like U-15s playing a couple of age groups down, but these are professional footballers, and thus their attempts to pass around the tacklers in close proximity are very quickly shut down.
48 minutes
Wolves win a corner, but Diogo Jota is down for the moment after being caught awkwardly by a slipping Daniel James.
James was booked, remember, for a dive in the first half, and if perceived a certain way you could argue that he deserves a yellow for that. He's caught Jota with his studs on the ankle. Inadvertent, yes, but he could have had few arguments had he received his marching orders.
The corner comes to nothing as Jota tries to run it off. He's soon back on.
50 minutes
Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka combine tidily and the latter cross nicely, but Jesse Lingard swings haphazardly at the bouncing ball, and it bumps backwards from his thigh.
51 minutes
A burst of pace from Daniel James is too much for Ruben Neves, who slides into his legs and takes his medicine.
Jon Moss issues a yellow card.
53 minutes
Adama Traore is crash test dummied by Harry Maguire's shoulder after untangling himself from a tight spot. Five yards from the right corner of the box, and Joao Moutinho will look to put this in a good area...
54 minutes
Off the post!
A good area indeed! Raul Jimenez makes a run from deep and gets across a leaden-footed Marcus Rashford, flicking his free header on and past a motionless David De Gea.
It thumps against the woodwork and away off the goalkeeper. Wolves are coming...
GOAL! Wolves 1-1 Manchester United (Ruben Neves, 55 minutes)
Postage stamp!
That is very good! Wolves take a short corner and sweep the ball to the edge of the box, where Ruben Neves has five yards of space, and time to take a settling touch.
He does and unfurls the most delicious of curlers, crashing against the underside of the bar and down into the corner. A quite magnificent finish.
VAR are checking this - Joao Moutinho might have been offside as Diogo Jota returned the short corner to him.
It's just his arm offside. This'll count.
Here it comes - the goal stands! Jon Moss points to halfway, and Wolves are level!
58 minutes
Adama Traore has added something to the Wolves side. He zips inside with a flick and a trick, a stepover working a yard but it is an agricultural swing of the left boot rather than a cultured one. The shot trickles wide.
