David Moyes’ side have been in tremendous form this season, with victory against Brighton last time out lifting the Hammers to within touching distance of a European place. Michail Antonio scored the winner then, providing a timely boost after the sale of Sebastien Haller to Ajax earlier this month. The club are continuing to search for a replacement, but that appears to not be an urgent cause for concern with West Ham now unbeaten in all competitions since 21 December.
Meanwhile, West Brom come into the fixture with renewed momentum after a vital 3-2 victory over rivals Wolves last week. That result has breathed life into Sam Allardyce’s rescue mission, with the Baggies now just five points adrift of safety. Allardyce knows the Hammers well after his four-year stint in charge of the club between 2011 and 2015 and believes it’s vital his side do not concede first to have a chance of taking all three points. Follow all the action live below:
West Ham have accrued 10 more points than at this stage of last season and made their best start since 2014/15.
The Hammers could keep four consecutive league clean sheets for the first time since February 2014, when they were managed by Sam Allardyce.
West Brom have taken just four points from a possible 15 under Sam Allardyce but they are unbeaten in three away league matches, one shy of their Premier League club record.
The Baggies scored three goals at Wolves on Saturday, as many as in their previous five away league games combined.
West Ham can win their opening four competitive matches of a calendar year for the first time since 1958. They have won 1-0 in all three of their fixtures in 2021.
The Hammers have taken 18 points from their past 10 league games, the fourth-best record in the division.
West Brom (19th) need to get something out of the game. They are five points behind Burnley (17th) and safety but only one point behind Fulham (18th). A second consecutive win would be massive for the Baggies but if they can avoid defeat against a strong in-form West Ham it will be great results for them.
More from Craig Dawson who says the atmosphere around West Ham is ‘great’ after a recent run of form sees them unbeaten in five Premier League games with four clean sheets. Dawson said:
West Ham are unbeaten in their last nine home games against the Baggies, winning three and drawing six.
West Brom's most recent victory at West Ham was a 1-0 win in September 2002 in the first Premier League match between the sides.
There have been 25 goals scored in the last seven Premier League meetings hosted by West Ham.
Team news - Changes
David Moyes makes just the one change to his West Ham side that defeated Burnley 1-0 last time out. Pablo Fornals drops to the bench with Manuel Lanzini making the starting XI.
Two changes for Sam Allardyce’s men. Sam Johnstone returns to replace David Button in goal with Conor Gallagher back from suspension to take a spot in midfield. Robert Snodgrass is the man to miss out.
West Ham defender Craig Dawson spoke about their opponents tonight saying:
Last time out
West Ham welcomed Burnley to the London Stadium last Saturday and were forced into a tough game with a not so surprisingly resolute Burnley defence. The Hammers created more chances despite having slightly less possession but they were never in trouble after a returning Michail Antonio put them in front before 10 minutes were on the clock.
West Brom have given themselves a lifeline after they came from behind to impressively beat Wolves 3-2 away from home on Saturday. Matheus Pereira coolly slotted home an early penalty to put the Baggies in front but Wolves responded with strikes from Fabio Silva and Willy Boly to lead at half time. Semi Ajayi got his third goal under Sam Allardyce to make things level before Pereira stepped up once again to fire home a winning penalty for West Brom.
