From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and more are open for business with the summer transfer window now officially open.

Arsenal are set to push on with their first signing of the summer with a bid for Bournemouth's Ryan Fraser set to be lodged following this week's Europa League final. A new centre-back is high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's priority list at United with Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Leicester's Harry Maguire both options. Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another on the Norwegian's radar. It won't just be incomings at Old Trafford, however, with Paul Pogba a high-profile target for Real Madrid and Alexis Sanchez on his way out with Inter Milan and Juventus fighting it out for his signature - if he drops his wage demands. And Liverpool could be active too as they look to go one better after failing to win the Premier League title by just a single point.

Dean Smith has warned clubs Jack Grealish will cost a fortune but the Aston Villa boss insisted he has never thought about losing his captain.

Villa face Derby in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final at Wembley on Monday.

Grealish would be expected to leave if Villa lose the £170million showdown despite signing a new five-year contract last September.

Tottenham were interested last year after Villa's play-off final defeat to Fulham but failed to agree a fee and Smith is not contemplating selling his star.

Manchester United may have to double their valuation of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to sign the full-back, as there currently remains a huge difference between their stance and Crystal Palace's.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the 21-year-old as a key signing this summer, but initial hopes that the player's openness to go to Old Trafford could lead to an uncomplicated deal have been misplaced.

Palace feel under absolutely no pressure to sell Wan-Bissaka, and would want a fee of over £70m to even consider the prospect.

United had been hoping to complete the signing for at most £40m, but that now looks way off.

It is understood other clubs have already been put off by such a high valuation, but United will persist with the pursuit.

Aaron Ramsey is swapping Arsenal for Juventus this summer.

The Welsh midfielder will join on a free transfer, pocketing up to £400,000 per week.

But what can Ramsey expect? We spoke to those who have played in Serie A and at the Turin giants for an insight.

To Arsenal where a new goalkeeper is on the menu.

With Petr Cech walking off into the sunset - and quite probably to Chelsea - at the end of the season the Gunners need a new back-up for Bernd Leno.

Bild report that Germany U21 goalkeeper Markus Schubert, who plays for Dynamo Dresden, is a target and could move to the Emirates on a free transfer.

Huddersfield full-back Chris Lowe has joined Dynamo Dresden for an undisclosed fee following three seasons with the Terriers.

Lowe arrived in West Yorkshire from Kaiserslautern in the summer of 2016 and helped the club earn promotion to the Premier League in his first season, where he made 45 appearances in all competitions.

He played a further 56 times over the following two top-flight campaigns but, following Huddersfield's relegation to the Championship, the 30-year-old will return to Germany to link up with the second tier side.

Manchester United have seen an offer of £95m turned down by Napoli for star defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

That's according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

United are desperate for defensive reinforcements this summer with Leicester's Harry Maguire also a target.

Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham.

That's according to the Daily Mail.

They say that the club are keen to match Mauricio Pochettino's ambition and will do so by getting to the front of the queue for the 18-year-old.

Fulham want £40m with Spurs more keen to do a deal around £25m.

Maurizio Sarri is in pole position to take over at Juventus.

The Italians will have to pay the €6m release clause, but the former Napoli boss looks set to return to Serie A, report all of Italy's daily sport newspapers.

Sarri will give Gonzalo Higuain a lifeline and bring him back from his miserable loan at Chelsea.

While Daniele Rugani and Federico Bernardeschi can expect big roles, with Miralem Pjanic likely to play the Jorginho role.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is hopeful of re-signing Manchester Unitedgoalkeeper Dean Henderson ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Loan signing Henderson, 22, proved a huge success this term as the Blades finished runners-up in the Sky Bet Championship to end a 12-year exile from the top flight.

Henderson kept 21 clean sheets to win the Championship Golden Glove award, and said after the Blades won promotion that he wanted to return to Bramall Lane next season.

Manchester United’s own goalkeeping situation remain uncertain, with doubts over the future of Spain star David De Gea, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears to be open to the idea of again loaning out his England Under-21 international.

“We’re working our way through it,” Wilder told Press Association Sport over the ongoing Henderson talks.
