Transfer deadline day summer 2019: The deals done so far

The transfer window ended with a flurry of activity as the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Leicester, Sheffield United and Manchester City all put pen to paper on a number of late deals.

While the Gunners secured the services of David Luiz and Kieran Tierney, their rivals Spurs brought in Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis having failed to finalise a transfer for Paulo Dybala.

Elsewhere, Manchester United sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, Leicester bought Dennis Praet, Mo Besic joined Sheffield United and, in one of the more unexpected deals of the day, Manchester City signed Derby's Scott Carson on loan. Look back over these transfers, and many others, in our deadline day blog below:

Manchester United have reopened talks with Juventus over Mario Mandzukic, according to Sky in Italy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are scouring Europe for a new frontman with Romelu Lukaku's departure all but confirmed and are reportedly ready to turn to the veteran Croatian.

Arsenal have finally agreed a £25m deal with Celtic for Kieran Tierney after a summer spent wrestling over the structure of the deal.

The left-back left for London last night to complete his medical, however, that is no formality with Tierney still recovering from a double hernia operation.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Athletic Bilbao's Inaki Williams.

The 25-year-old striker, who scored 13 goals in 38 La Liga games last season, has an £81m release clause.

Arsenal starlet Eddie Nketiah is set to leave the club on loan today with Leeds the favourites to secure the 20-year-old striker's signature.

Bristol City had led the early race before interest was raised by Fortuna Dusseldorf in Germany. However, a persuasive phone call with Leeds' sporting director and the sale of Kemar Roofe to Anderlecht is believed to have convinced Nketiah that Elland Road is the right place for his development.

Sampdoria's Dennis Praet is set to complete a £19m move to Leicester today.

The Belgian midfielder has travelled to England to finalise personal terms and complete his medical with the club.

Praet, who made 34 appearances in Serie A last season, can play as either a No 8 or No 10 and will have to fight with compatriot Youri Tielemans and James Maddison for a spot in the starting eleven.

In one of the window's more bizarre moves, Manchester City are looking to sign goalkeeper Scott Carson in a bid to fulfil their homegrown quota.

Carson, who has been capped by England four times and has spent the last four seasons at Derby, could join the Premier League champions on a one year loan in a move similar to Robert Green's gameless cameo at Chelsea.

BBC now report that Tottenham are confident of completing a deal for Juventus' Paulo Dybala before today's 5pm deadline.

Manchester United had ended negotiations with the player because of his wage demands, however, Spurs can offer the Argentinian Champions League football and are now hopeful a deal will be reached.

It doesn't however mean the team's interest in Betis' Giovani Lo Celso is dead in the water with a loan plus obligation to buy deal still being considered.

Arsenal fans everywhere rejoice because it may not be too late for the club to offload Shkodran Mustafi.

The defender could face the exit door as collateral in the Gunners' move to bring in David Luiz. Monaco were interested in the centre-back earlier in the window and he could still depart to a European side after today's 5pm deadline.

West Brom have launched a bid for Southampton's Charlie Austin, according to Sky Sports.

The Saints have invested heavily in their attack this summer signing Moussa Djenepo, Che Adams and Danny Ings on permanent deals and Austin could well be allowed to leave if the club's asking price is met.
