Paris Saint-Germain have rejected an offer from Barcelona for wantaway striker Neymar, which included both Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Rakitic.

Neymar has made it known to PSG that he want to leave the club this summer, having failed to return on time for pre-season training after missing the Copa America with injury.

But a lack of potential destinations means it is unlikely he will get his wish this window, particularly in light of Barcelona's mega-money move for Antoine Griezmann.

However, L'Equipe reports that Barca did launch a move for the Brazilian regardless, and instead of a big-money offer, they put up midfielders Coutinho and Rakitic as payment, along with an addition €40m. But the Ligue 1 champions have rejected the offer and will not bow to selling him on the cheap, having paid £202m for him just two years ago.

Chelsea are hoping to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi down to a new contract, after Bayern Munich pulled the plug on their proposed summer move for the England youngster.

The Independent can reveal that Bayern have shelved any fresh approach for the 18-year-old due to the ruptured Achilles tendon he suffered at the end of last season, despite seeing an offer rejected last January.

Hudson-Odoi is heading into the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is refusing to agree an extension unless his playing time significantly increases, but Chelsea are hopeful that this setback may actually play into their favour, with new manager Frank Lampard looking to tie him down for the long term.

"It means a lot (to be the record signing). It proves that the club [has] really wanted me for a long time. I felt this desire to sign me and I’m really happy to sign, also. it is an ambitious club, a nice club, a nice city and nice fans too

"For me I can guarantee that I will give 100% for the club because the club has given me this confidence and I will try to give it back every day in every game.

"I will always give 100% and respect the club. I think this is a normal thing and that I can guarantee. I know it’s a big transfer and there is a lot of expectation around me, and I just want to make people proud of this transfer and I will give everything I have."

Inter Milan are ready to meet Manchester United's £75m valuation of striker Romelu Lukaku, but only in a deal made up of £60m spread across three years plus an additional £15m in add-ons.

Lukaku is keen on a move to Italy after struggling to meet Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's demands at United, resulting in him losing his first-team spot as the lead striker towards the end of last season.

Inter are keen on Lukaku and have been locked in negotiations all summer, but have so far failed to come up with the right fee to tempt United into selling.

But according to The Sun, the Serie A side are ready to meet United's demands - at least where the total fee is concerned - and will lodge an official bid in the coming days.
