Liverpool have made major strides in the transfer market recently, with Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota arriving from Bayern Munich and Wolves respectively.

However, it could still be a busy few days on the selling front before the window closes next month. In the case of striker Rhian Brewster, an exit now appears inevitable after the 20-year-old was absent for the club’s Carabao Cup victory against Lincoln. Meanwhile, reports in Spain suggest Barcelona will make a bid for Georginio Wijnaldum before 5 October, with Ronald Koeman desperate to reunite with the Dutch international.

The chances of any more big-money signings appears slim for now, but the Reds are already getting linked with long-term targets for next summer, including teenagers Jeremy Doku and Giovanni Reyna, while reports suggest that Kylian Mbappe could be available for £91m if he does not sign a new contract with PSG this season.

PREMIER LEAGUE SHOULD HELP OUT THE EFL SAYS KLOPP

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says the Premier League should ‘do the right thing’ and help out the EFL in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many EFL sides are threatened with extinction due to the on-going pandemic, with fans not allowed inside stadiums and the likelihood of that changing in the foreseeable future appears to be slim.

Klopp commented on the issue ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Arsenal on Monday:

"In general people in a better position should help people in a less good position, 100 per cent," Klopp. "I don't understand the structure 100% - in Germany you have Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga, so they have to share the problems so that makes things slightly easier.

"There isn't a general answer - people in a better position should help other people but the position in this moment for all clubs is not really easy. I don't know how the government finds time to think about that, but I get it 100%. So, yes football should try to help themselves, ourselves - however we should say it - I agree 100%.

“I think it’s important that the Premier League as a collective looks at supporting the EFL, the leagues below and grassroots football, absolutely.

“That’s the base of why we’re all here. I started and [a lot] of the young players started in Sunday league football. I’ve managed in the Championship. I understand a lot of the difficulties clubs are having, so I think there certainly can be a conversation.

“I can’t go too political because I don’t know enough about the numbers, but I do think clubs in the Premier League and the Premier League themselves have a heart. They understand [the situation] and I’m sure as we move forward they will be making positive moves on that front.”

BREWSTER WANTS BLADES MOVE

Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster reportedly wants a move to Sheffield United.

The Sheffield Star reports that the 20-year-old wants to play under Chris Wilder as he believes it’s the best opportunity to gain first team football.

Yorkshire Live reported earlier today however that any potential deal has stalled.

The Blades would like to take Brewster on loan for the season, whilst Liverpool are only open to a permanent sale, stated the website.

Brewster scored 11 times in 22 games for Swansea in the Championship last season.

BLADES BID FOR BREWSTER STALLS

Sheffield United’s attempts to sign Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster has hit a road block.

Yorkshire Live reports that the club are attempting to sign Brewster, but are only willing to sign him on a season-long loan deal.

This is in contrast to Liverpool, who would prefer a permanent deal for the 20-year-old.

Brewster spent last season on loan at Swansea in the Championship, where he scored 11 times in 22 appearances.

ARTETA AN EXCEPTIONAL MANAGER SAYS KLOPP

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta is ‘exceptional’ ahead of their clash this weekend.

Arsenal travel to Anfield on Monday night, and Klopp, speaking at his press conference ahead of the game, was full of praise for his opposite number:

“He has shown in a short period of time that he seems to be an exceptional football manager,” said Klopp.

“The structure of the team he sets up is exceptional – the balance between offence and defence is really good.

“He has changed the whole mood there.”

REDS SENT OUT TITLE WARNING SAYS CARRAGHER

Liverpool sent out a title warning to Manchester City in their dominant 2-0 win against Chelsea last weekend, believes Jamie Carragher.

The Premier League champions won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge with an impressive display, and Carragher says his old side mean business again this season.

"They won't drop off in intensity or attitude or mentality, that won't be allowed to happen with the manager they have got," Carragher said.

"They could drop off with their performance because that can happen sometimes with different players.

"If someone is slightly better than you, you have to hold your hands up.

"Liverpool have climbed the mountain to win the league and they won't feel like they have done it and don't need to do anything else.

"I think the Chelsea game reaffirmed that. I felt that would always be the case having watched this team and Jurgen Klopp for so long.

"I think it was a performance that sent a little title message from Liverpool to their rivals that they will be there despite not signing too many players before the Leeds game and it not going as well as possible even though they got the result they would have wanted.

"It was a great week for Liverpool."

SHAQIRI IN DEEPER ROLE ‘PROMISING’ SAYS KLOPP

Xherdan Shaqiri’s future at Liverpool could be in a deeper position, according to boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Swiss player was tried out in a deeper role in last night’s 7-2 win over Lincoln City in the third round of the Carabao Cup, and Klopp was impressed with what he saw.

"First of all it was a super game; a super game in a quite, I'm not sure, unfamiliar position. He did it really, really well,' Klopp said.

'There is no doubt about Shaq's quality, there was never any doubt and in the moment everything looks really, really good, it looks promising and we will see."

Shaqiri signed from Stoke City in 2018.

REDS REJECT LOAN OFFERS FOR JONES

Liverpool have reportedly rejected several loan offers for 19-year-old Curtis Jones, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Jones starred in Liverpool’s 7-2 win over Lincoln City in this week’s Carabao Cup third round, and Nixon reports that several sides from the Championship have enquired about taking the midfielder on loan.

However these bids have been rejected by the club, who will give Jones game time this season, according to Nixon.

WILDER GIVES BREWSTER UPDATE

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has given an update on the club’s attempt to sign Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster.

The Blades have been linked to the Liverpool youngster for a number of weeks, and during his press conference ahead of their clash against Leeds, Wilder gave an update on recent developments:

It’s difficult to sit here and say we haven’t made enquiries. I am uncomfortable talking about other players.

We have enquired about a number of players and hopefully we will get one over the line.
