Both newly-promoted sides were looking to bounce back from opening-weekend defeats, and it was the hosts who found themselves on the right side of a 4-3 thriller following last weekend’s defeat by Liverpool.
Helder Costa put Marcelo Bielsa’s side ahead early before Aleksandar Mitrovic equalised from the spot. A penalty followed up the other end, however, with Mateusz Klich also netting. Costa scored his second of the day in the latter half before Bamford added Leeds’ fourth, and although Bobby Decordova-Reid’s strike and a second for Mitrovic set up a dramatic finish, the hosts emerged with the win. 15 mins: United win a corner that Fernandes whips into the box. It comes to Pogba who heads it down for McTominay. McTominay gives it to James and he floats a ball into the box for Rashford but Palace head it clear.
12 mins: Man Utd have been very sloppy, they’ve given the ball away multiple times, they’re getting caught on the ball, they’re making poor tackles. Crystal Palace look sharper, stronger and fitter. Townsend cuts in from the right wing and lets fly but misses to the right of goal.

7 mins: GOAL! Sakho sends the ball down the left wing and Schlupp takes possession of the ball. Man Utd try to push up but he gets in behind and squares the ball across the box. Townsend runs into the box from the right and hits the ball back across the goal. He beats De Gea and Palace are leading!
3 mins: Pogba gives away another free kick, this time over to the left of his own penalty area. Andros Townsend sends the ball in and Luke Shaw heads it away. Positive start from Palace.
Kick off: Crystal Palace get the game started with a long ball forward that is cleared by Man Utd. It comes to McArthur who is pulled down by Paul Pogba in his own half.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explained his team selection for today’s game. He told Sky Sports:
Paul’s [Pogba] been training really well since he’s come back and Donny [van de Beek], it’s his first game, of course we want him to play as much as he can and he’s gelling into the group nicely.
"I’ve got two very good goalkeepers, David [De Gea] played really well for Spain over a couple of games in the summer. We’ve had a strange, very quick turnaround this summer so David’s games for them showed he’s in good form and training has been fantastic with the two of them.
"You have to put a team out that you think will win the game and who is in form. David looks in good shape.
"[Mason Greenwood] is always a great option to have on the bench, he’s had a shorter pre-season than what we’d hoped for and that’s the reason behind a few of the calls today because there’s been a few [players] that haven’t joined in the two weeks we’ve had.
“[Matic and Wan-Bissaka] have only come back to training on Monday so there’s not been enough for them to start today.”
Mason Greenwood starts on the bench for Man Utd today and it’s safe to say Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not at all happy with the way the FA treated him during his England call up:
