Frank Lampard’s side have shown serious improvements in recent weeks, having now kept a clean sheet in their last five successive matches, and can move into the top four with a victory.
It’s been a different story for Sheffield United so far, though, with Chris Wilder’s side taking just one point from their opening seven games. Furthermore, the Blades have only scored three goals in total and desperately need a result to kickstart their season. Follow all the action below live:
70 min
The flow of the game has been disrupted by the various VAR checks and substitutions. Everton will want to rediscover their earlier momentum quickly.
64 min
There was a VAR check on that Maguire tackle, which was a nasty one and probably would’ve been avoided had the flag gone up for offside sooner. Maguire gets away with it.
62 min
Digne breaks into the box and is taken out by a heavy challenge from Maguire. The flag belatedly goes up for offside, but the Everton left-back is hurt.
61 min
Having seen a replay, Pickford clearly kicked Maguire. Apparently the Everton goalkeeper can do as he wishes in the box without consequences.
60 min
Sigurdsson pushes Fernandes over and concedes a free kick, which is curled into the box and looks routine for Pickford. But the goalkeeper drops it right at the feet of Maguire, who tries to convert with his knee. It loops over the bar, but the defender is then cleaned out by a combination of Pickford and Keane. For some reason, a penalty isn’t given, even after a VAR check.
57 min
Coleman sets off on a driving run into the box, surging past several United players. He tries to get a shot off but he’s off balance and Lindelof gets in the way of it.
54 min
Rodriguez is becoming more prominent after a subdued first half. Digne plays the Colombian in on the left but his cross deflects into the hands of De Gea.
