Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Welcome to our live coverage of the 2019 Champions League final between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the perfect start when he hammered home a second minute penalty after Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handballed the ball in the area. A streaker interrupted proceedings before Divock Origi sealed the win late on with a smart finish.

The pace has really picked up here, not that it's made a difference to the quality in the final third, but nonetheless, this is a bonus.

James Milner is on for Georginio Wijnaldum.

Mauricio Pochettino has seen enough from Harry Winks and brings on Lucas Moura.

That's a strange one because it has been Winks that has shown some composure on the ball and got them into the game. Harry Kane survives.

67: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Liverpool find some space as they work forward and win a corner from Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross.

The defender trots over to take the corner and once again can't beat the front man. The quality of the set-pieces tonight has been very poor.

68: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Spurs are operating with Christian Eriksen and Moussa Sissoko in midfield, which is allowing Sadio Mane to come inside and attack Tottenham.

On his latest surge, Mane begins a move as Liverpool work a pass to James Milner, who has Hugo Lloris beaten with a shot, but his dragged left-footed effort is just the wrong side of the post.

There's appeal for a penalty from the Tottenham supporters but the players don't blink as a cross is cleared by Joel Matip.

Liverpool break forward and Mohamed Salah is in space on the right from Alisson's pass from the back. He tries to prod the ball to Divock Origi, but Sadio Mane collects on the edge of the box, skips past a challenge but runs into Toby Alderweireld.

Spurs with Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier struggling with muscle injuries.

73: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Spurs break forward with great pace through Son Heung-min, he lays the ball to his left and Dele Alli tries to curl an effort beyond Alisson, but the goalkeeper is equal to it.

74: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Tottenham make their second change and it's Moussa Sissoko off, replaced by Eric Dier.

It seems an injury may have forced him off.
