Lionel Messi's solitary first-half goal was enough for Argentina to get the better of their old foe Brazil in Saudi Arabia.
Brazil had the first clear opportunity when Gabriel Jesus earned a penalty, but the Manchester City forward registered the fifth missed penalty of his young career, steering the ball wide of the post having sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Messi earned a penalty of his own a few minutes later when Alex Sandro tripped him in the box, although the contact appeared minimal. Messi got up to take the kick himself and although Alisson Becker saved his initial shot, the Liverpool keeper couldn't hold on to the ball and it squirmed loose for Messi to tap home.
Argentina were forced to dig deep at times in the second half although they also missed chances to wrap up the match. Re-live the game in Riyadh:

80 min: Brazil 0-1 Argentina
Argentina are on top and right now look more likely to extend their lead than Brazil do to equalise. Messi links play beautifully again to eventually set up Tagliafico, but he misses the target.
81 min: Brazil 0-1 Argentina
Martinez had a great chance to seal the deal for Argentina but missed with the goal gaping. Will he regret that?
86 min: Brazil 0-1 Argentina
Messi crosses for Otamendi at the far post but the centre-half is unusually wayward with his header.
Coutinho, on from the bench, will try to find something with a late corner....
Full-time! Brazil 0-1 Argentina
Not a thriller by any means but a decent and hard-fought contest nonetheless. Lionel Messi is the match-winner, which is odd because you could argue he dived to win a penalty which he then missed, but he reacted sharply to finish the rebound and that was enough for Argentina to beat their old foes, with a dogged second-half display to close it out. That's all from us, thanks for joining.
