From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The 100th league edition of ‘Der Klassiker’ was over by half-time as Mats Hummels, Robert Lewandowski, Javi Martinez and Serge Gnabry had the hosts 4-0 up at half-time.
Lewandowski then added a fifth in the final minute as Bayern sent out a message about their determination to reclaim the title.
The result puts Bayern, who were nine points adrift in December, top of the table by one point with six games remaining.

32 min: Another Bayern corner almost brings about the third and it's Hummels again who enjoys a telepathic connection with Thiago. This time, though, it's comfortably collected by Burki.
35 min: Dortmund surge forwards via Piszczek whose cross arrows towards Delaney, but the loose ball is collected by Bayern after a fine Kimmich interception.
They look to counter immediately and after making ground, Coman has two men screaming for it, but is bundled over on the edge of the box. No foul given.
That is the danger for Dortmund now who have no option but to throw men forward at every opportunity.
40 min: Zagadou is enduring a torrid afternoon and receives a yellow for a clumsy foul on Gnabry. Bayern take the free-kick quickly, chipping it over Dortmund's defence, and Muller's first-time volley is well saved by Burki. But the ball rebounds to Lewandowski, whose shot in turn ricochets to Martinez, and it's a brilliant curled finish from the Spaniard into the bottom corner.
GOAAAAL! Bayern 4-0 Dortmund (Gnabry, 43')
43 minutes gone. 4 goals scored. And for Dortmund, it's a cruel and despairing passage of play to define a season.
HT: Bayern 4-0 Dortmund
A relentlessly dominant half has Bayern swaggering towards the tunnel. Dortmund's forlorn players can barely raise their eyes from the floor. Their defending has been calamitous and for a game with so much on the line, it's been depressingly easy for the champions.
45 min: We're back underway. Can Dortmund get an early goal to give themselves the faintest glimmer of hope?
It's cruel on Dan-Axel Zagadou. The centre-back is one of the world's most promising, but after an abysmal first half he's replaced by Julian Weigl.
51 min: Thiago shows mercy towards the helpless defenders at Dortmund's front post. But the bluff has them fooled and two Bayern players lingering at the back post have a free run at it. The volley is miscued off the underside of Coman's boot though and Dortmund breathe again.
