At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Gunners boast a commanding 3-1 aggregate lead from the first leg, when Martin Odegaard gave his side the lead with a fierce long-range shot. A calamitous error gifted the Greek champions a second-half equaliser, however, Gabriel Magalhaes and Mohamed Elneny seized a firm advantage for Mikel Arteta’s side in the final 15 minutes. Arsenal are clear favourites to progress to the quarter-finals, but will still remember the scars of their dramatic exit at the hands of Olympiacos last season, when Youssef El-Arabi scored a last-gasp extra-time winner at the Emirates.
Arteta confirmed that a line has been drawn under Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s discipline breach, which saw the captain dropped for the club’s 2-1 north London derby victory against Tottenham. “We talked, everything has been resolved in a really positive way. So we move forward,” Arteta said. “Everybody has to obviously perform at the highest level to earn his place in the team and there is no exceptions there.” Follow all the action live below:
WILLIAN ABSENCE
Seems to be a minor issue, but here’s why Willian isn’t involved.
HALF TIME
Arsenal 0-0 Olympiacos
All square at the break...which is fine for the Gunners. They lead 3-1 on aggregate still.
44’ - Arsenal 0-0 Olympiacos (3-1 agg)
Final moments of the first half which hasn’t exactly sparked into life yet. Smith Rowe curls an effort on target but it’s never really troubling the keeper.
Two minutes added on.
42’ - Arsenal 0-0 Olympiacos (3-1 agg)
Aubameyang leads a counter and tries to free Pepe, but the winger’s first touch isn’t good enough and Olympiacos defenders get back to clear. Decent break from the Gunners initially, off a corner at the other end of the pitch.
38’ - Arsenal 0-0 Olympiacos (3-1 agg)
A very slow tempo to much of the game when Olympiacos are in possession. They’re knocking it around fine around the halfway line, but getting nowhere with it. In deeper areas, Arsenal have been able to press them into mistakes a few times already.
34’ - Arsenal 0-0 Olympiacos (3-1 agg)
Smith Rowe tries to take the game by the scruff of the neck and push Arsenal forward, but he’s fouled at least three times in five seconds before finally earning a free-kick. Ceballos plays it across the pitch, but Bellerin can’t cross into the middle.
30’ - Arsenal 0-0 Olympiacos (3-1 agg)
A sustained spell now for Olympiacos on the ball in Arsenal’s half, but it doesn’t lead anywhere. A few hopeful crosses are headed away and Bernd Leno is entirely untroubled - a good shape from Arteta’s side, who have no need to rush matters, being two goals to the good.
26’ - Arsenal 0-0 Olympiacos (3-1 agg)
Another good chance - Aubameyang fires over the bar after being played in by Ceballos. Promising signs in the quicker build-up play from the home side, though the Greek visitors are just shading the possession overall.
22’ - Arsenal 0-0 Olympiacos (3-1 agg)
Almost the opener...at the other end! A simple long ball flies between the Arsenal centre-backs, El Arabi runs through and hammers an effort goalwards - Leno sticks out a boot and makes a fine save.
20’ - Arsenal 0-0 Olympiacos (3-1 agg)
So close to the opener. Pepe races into the right channel onto a pass from Ceballos, he beats the keeper to the ball and clips it goalward - but the ball strikes a defender before bobbling just an inch wide of goal. Jose Sa claims the corner after Gabriel nods goalward.
