Frank Lampard’s side were defeated by Valencia in their opening Group H fixture but recovered with a gritty away win at Lille to restore the club’s hopes of advancing to the knockout stages.
And they added a huge three points to their haul with an impressive and mature display from Frank Lampard's young side.

N’golo Kante and Ross Barkley have been ruled out of the fixture, however, Callum Hudson-Odoi is in line to make his first Champions League start. Starlet Billy Gilmour has also travelled to Amsterdam.
Ajax have no fresh concerns, however, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar may drop out of the starting eleven that defeated RKC Waalwijk on the weekend. Nico Tagliafico returns from suspension.

27 mins: Alonso puts a cross into the box for Chelsea, it's won by an Ajax defender he heads the ball down. Hudson-Odoi reacts the quickest and he hits the ball on the half voley but it goes wide of the goal.

A long ball forward from Chelsea wins them a throw in Ajax's half but they lose the ball and Ajax break on the counter before Kovacic clears it with a pass to Alonso.

35 mins: GOAL! Ziyech runs the ball into the box from the right and crosses it. The ball takes a big deflection off Tomori and comes to the far post where Promes taps it in.

42 mins: Chelsea got lucky with the offside goal, they were caught sleeping on the right side to let Ziyech into the box but until then they've been solid all over the pitch.
Azpilicueta runs up the right side of the pitch and brings the ball into the box, he thinks about a cross but goes for goal instead and misses.
