Frank Lampard’s side were defeated by Valencia in their opening Group H fixture but recovered with a gritty away win at Lille to restore the club’s hopes of advancing to the knockout stages.
And they added a huge three points to their haul with an impressive and mature display from Frank Lampard's young side.

N’golo Kante and Ross Barkley have been ruled out of the fixture, however, Callum Hudson-Odoi is in line to make his first Champions League start. Starlet Billy Gilmour has also travelled to Amsterdam.
Ajax have no fresh concerns, however, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar may drop out of the starting eleven that defeated RKC Waalwijk on the weekend. Nico Tagliafico returns from suspension.
The teams head back out onto the pitch to go through the pre-match ceremonies, they shake hands and jog out to the middle.

3 mins: Tomori gives the ball away to van de Beek and Ajax can break. Promes runs forward on the left and van de Beek finds him with a pass. Promes puts the ball into the box and van de Beek shoots but Alonso blocks it. The ball hits his arm and Ajax want a penalty but Promes was offside and the flag is raised.

6 mins: Azpilicueta wins a corner on the right for Chelsea as he comes forward with the ball. Willian takes the corner and Tomori reaches the ball first but doesn't direct his header towards goal.

9 mins: Veltman wins the ball in midfield and runs it up the pitch, he lines up a shot and lets fly but misses to the right of the goal.
Tagliafico wins a corner for Ajax. The corner comes to van de Beek alone near the far post, he hits the cross on the volley and Zouma gets the block in.

12 mins: Kepa makes a mistake by giving the ball to Ziyech, Tomori is aware of the danger as Ziyech runs into the box and he does well to take the ball off the Ajax man.

15 mins: Hudson-Odoi receives the ball on the left for Chelsea, he works the ball into the box and attempts a one-two with Alonso but the return pass from Alonso is poor and goes out for a goal kick.
Chelsea attack from the same side again, but it is Mount who squeezes into the box this time. He uses a defender as a shield and tries to squirt the ball into the net at the near post. Onana gets low to save the shot.

18 mins: Mount goes on a good run up the pitch with the ball, he looks for a foul but Martinez times his tackle very well and wins the ball as Mount goes to ground.
Promes finds Ziyech on the far side of the box with a decent cross. Ziyech squares the ball but Tomori intercepts and boots it clear.

21 mins: Ajax put the pressure on Chelsea with a long ball break, Tomori and Alonso both struggle to clear the ball but Ajax's attack eventually peters out.
