Jack Harrison scored the equaliser in Leeds United’s 2-2 draw with Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday, making up for the own goal he conceded earlier in the game.
Leeds had arrived at Elland Road with plenty of pressure on them after Bournemouth’s 1-0 upset of Liverpool earlier in the day dropped them into the relegation zone.
They breathed a sigh of relief when Harrison scored in the 78th minute after a short corner from Wilfried Gnonto, giving them a valuable point although they remain in 19th place.
The equaliser came after Harrison, under pressure from Solly March, had put the ball into his own net in the 61st minute.
Alexis Mac Allister had opened the scoring for Brighton in the 33rd minute heading in his ninth goal of the season.
Patrick Bamford then scored his 49th goal overall for Leeds in the 40th minute, when his strike from the edge of the box was deflected and went in off the underside of the crossbar.
Brighton, who arrived with a club-record 11 Premier League wins already this season, are seventh in the table on 39 points.

Harrison scored an own goal to give Brighton the lead before netting a stunning equaliser to earn Leeds a point in a thrilling 2-2 draw. Mac Allister broke the deadlock in the first half, heading in from close range after a fantastic move from De Zerbi's side. Against the run of play, Leeds found an equaliser through Bamford, whose strike from outside the box deflected off Webster and past Steele. The better team after the restart, the hosts then conceded a sucker punch goal to go behind for the second time. Wober and Meslier failed to deal with Mitoma's low cross with Harrison turning the ball into his own net under pressure from March. Still, Leeds pushed for a leveller and scored their second of the game on 78 minutes. Gnonto found Harrison with a fast corner, allowing the winger to cut the ball onto his right and curl his effort into the top corner.
