Jack Harrison scored the equaliser in Leeds United’s 2-2 draw with Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday, making up for the own goal he conceded earlier in the game.
Leeds had arrived at Elland Road with plenty of pressure on them after Bournemouth’s 1-0 upset of Liverpool earlier in the day dropped them into the relegation zone.
They breathed a sigh of relief when Harrison scored in the 78th minute after a short corner from Wilfried Gnonto, giving them a valuable point although they remain in 19th place.
The equaliser came after Harrison, under pressure from Solly March, had put the ball into his own net in the 61st minute.
Alexis Mac Allister had opened the scoring for Brighton in the 33rd minute heading in his ninth goal of the season.
Patrick Bamford then scored his 49th goal overall for Leeds in the 40th minute, when his strike from the edge of the box was deflected and went in off the underside of the crossbar.
Brighton, who arrived with a club-record 11 Premier League wins already this season, are seventh in the table on 39 points.
Leeds United vs Brighton & Hove Albion
As for Brighton, they bounced back from a disappointing defeat against Fulham by thrashing West Ham 4-0 to stay within touching distance of the top six. The Seagulls sit just three points behind Newcastle United and will overtake Eddie Howe's if they win, the Magpies lose, and there is a four-goal swing in their favour. Brighton will be confident that they can secure another away victory having won three of their last five on the road.
Leeds United vs Brighton & Hove Albion
The hosts are inside the relegation zone after collecting 22 points from their first 25 games, losing 1-0 to Chelsea last time out. They have won just one of their previous 12 fixtures in the Premier League (drawing four, losing seven) but did win their previous match at Elland Road against bottom-of-the-table Southampton. As a result, Leeds will be looking to win consecutive home league games for only the second time since the start of last season, with the other occasion being against Wolves and Chelsea in their first two at Elland Road this term.
