From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. With less than three months to go until the World Cup kicks off in Russia, Gareth Southgate has two games to add the finishing touches to his England team.
The first of those matches sees the Three Lions take on Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands in a clash that pits two transitory teams against one another.
Southgate has already confirmed that Jordan Pickford will be starting in goal while Jordan Henderson has been named captain for the fixture. Jack Wilshere is unavailable after being left behind in England with a knee injury he sustained in training.
Where can I watch it?
The game will be broadcast on ITV 1. Coverage starts at 19:30.
It’s a big game for:
Virgil van Dijk. The 26-year-old has been named captain for the Netherlands, taking over duty from Arjen Robben who retired late last year. Against England, Van Dijk now has the chance to lead by example and prove why Liverpool made him the most expensive defender in history last January. Given he knows his opposition well, there’s even more expectancy for the Dutchman to run a tight ship tonight.

Sub-sub
89: Having come on earlier, Harry Maguire is replaced by Eric Dier. Saturday's extra time must have taken it out of him.
90+1: Ryan Babel crosses a testing ball towards the back post which is confidently claimed by Jordan Pickford among a crowd of white and orange shirts.
It wasn't compelling, ruthless or particularly entertaining at times but it's a win for England and a professional performance which is what Gareth Southgate was after.
After a first half where England failed to really threaten, Jeroen Zoet's goal was breached and Jesse Lingard scored his first senior goal for England in the 59th minute. Danny Rose cut a cross towards Lingard who took the ball on the edge of the box and drilled a low shot into the back of the net.
From then on it was simple for England and Jordan Pickford who had little to really worry about, in truth the Dutch were really poor and Ronald Koeman will be concerned at the display in his first game as Netherlands manager.
England captain Jordan Henderson on ITV Sport: "For the majority we were in control. In the first half we dominated the ball but could have created more. Second half, they changed the formation to stop us playing but we moved the ball and made chances."
Lingard talks through his goal on ITV Sport: "I gave the keep the eyes. When you work hard, you get the rewards."
Gareth Southgate gives his assessment to ITV Sport: "A good test for us. Came away from home and controlled the game, used the ball well. Maybe a little more quality in their final third was required. We had some good play up until that final ball.
"The back three and goalkeeper, the way they were able to play at the back, played with real composure, we'll have to get used to them taking risks.
"The defenders and goalkeeper are really capable of using the ball well and we were able to work the game out, tactically, to keep the ball high up the pitch."
On Jordan Pickford's game: "Excellent really pleased, you saw all the attributes and most importantly he was tidy with his goalkeeping and decision making."
That's all from the live blog. I leave you with Jonathan Liew's excellent report from Amsterdam.
