From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. With less than three months to go until the World Cup kicks off in Russia, Gareth Southgate has two games to add the finishing touches to his England team.
The first of those matches sees the Three Lions take on Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands in a clash that pits two transitory teams against one another.
Southgate has already confirmed that Jordan Pickford will be starting in goal while Jordan Henderson has been named captain for the fixture. Jack Wilshere is unavailable after being left behind in England with a knee injury he sustained in training.
Where can I watch it?
The game will be broadcast on ITV 1. Coverage starts at 19:30.
It’s a big game for:
Virgil van Dijk. The 26-year-old has been named captain for the Netherlands, taking over duty from Arjen Robben who retired late last year. Against England, Van Dijk now has the chance to lead by example and prove why Liverpool made him the most expensive defender in history last January. Given he knows his opposition well, there’s even more expectancy for the Dutchman to run a tight ship tonight.
Head-to-head:

England 2 Netherlands 3, international friendly, February 2012

Odds:
Netherlands to win: 6/4
Draw: 11/5
England to win: 9/5
10: International friendlies are riddled with substitutions but this is an earlier change than expected. Joe Gomez's night is over after previously impressing in an England shirt, Harry Maguire is his replacement.
11: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin and Raheem Sterling link up well as England work their way through the Orange lines. Sterling tires to slip Marcus Rashford through on goal down the middle but his pass is slightly over hit.
England look like they're capable of easily dictating the pace of this game and can quicken it up on demand.
Predictions
VosCulpa says "0-0 will be a good result."
Ahh the confidence. So far it's looking more promising for England who release Danny Rose on the left who hits a cross which initially looks good but flies behind and was over hit.

17: Raheem Sterling twists and turns his way from the left flank to make his way into the penalty area. After drawing defenders towards him, Sterling lays the ball to Jesse Lingard who shoots from the edge of the box, despite not controlling the ball particularly well, and it goes wide. England want a corner but a goal kick is given.
21: The home side are starting to enjoy more possession after a slightly shaky start. Despite seeing more of the ball they really don't look like scoring as de Ligt fires a low drive from range which is easily saved by Jordan Pickford.
23: A measured and patient attack results in an England corner. Danny Rose takes towards Harry Maguire who can't do much with it, Kieran Trippier keeps the ball alive in the box but the Dutch clear.
23: Promes is arriving at the back post to get onto the end of a curling Dutch free kick. The ball falls to him but Danny Rose is on the scene to put him off inside the six yard area and Jordan Pickford clears up the danger.
28: England have the ball here but are moving the ball so slowly. The key offenders are Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin who are guilty of playing it backwards, a lot.
29: Harry Maguire goes close with a header but can't get enough power on it. The ball bounces down in the box but nobody in a white shirt can get to the ball before the Netherlands clear. The Leicester defender is causing some problems from set pieces. Get him on the plane, Gareth!
