From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. 40 min: Hungary remind their opponents what they're capable of as Lovrencsics fires a shot on goal from 35-yards out. The ball zips through the air, from left to right, and looks to have beaten an outstretched Courtois but there's too much on it. The shot rises above the bar and into the crowd.
42 min: It's Dzsudzsák this time for Hungary as he catches the Belgium defence napping. His low-driven effort from outside the penalty area shaves the right-hand side post as Hungary provide their opponents with yet another reminder.
44 min: Nainggolan concedes a foul in the centre-circle as the game approaches its final minute. Hungary are refusing to give up though and are continuing to contest every single ball.
HALF TIME: Hungary 0-1 Belgium
It's certainly been an open game of football. Having missed so many chances, Belgium have let their opponents slowly creep back into the game. De Bruyne has been fantastic so far but he's been gifted with a number of opportunities in front of goal which he's either missed or been denied by the efforts of the 40-year-old Gabor Kiraly. Hungary enjoyed their own chances as the first half progressed and Belgium will need to be careful they don't let their opponents equalise.
48 min: Free-kick for Belgium. De Bruyne delivers from the left and whips it into the box but the flag goes up for offside against Witsel.
50 min: Hungary come close! A lovely one-two on the edge of the Belgium box puts through Szalai on the right-hand side. He can't steady himself in time though and his strike fires into the side-netting.
55 min: Hungary step up the pressure as a low-driven pass across the deck splits the Belgium defence. It falls to Szalai but his first touch lets him down allowing Vermaelen time to recover his position and confront the Hungary striker.
85 min: Pause in play as Witsel takes an absolute rocket to the stomach. He won't be getting up for a while.
