From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Moments away now!

1 min: And that's the whistle! Belgium in white get things underway. Hungary in red.

2 min: Belgium surge down that left-hand side and Hazard looks for the one-two with Nainggolan but the central player overcooks the return ball which shoots out for a Hungary throw-in.

Samuel Lovett26 June 2016 20:02

4 min: Promising start for Belgium as De Bruyne lands the first shot from outside the Hungary box. It's a rising effort though and soars over the bar.

This is the man to beat today...fashionable as ever.95dbed64-8709-40fc-846f-3bcf1216e47e.jpg

7 min: First corner of the match for Belgium after Lukaku's shot on goal from within the six-yard box is blocked by the man below. It's pumped in by Kevin de Bruyne to Witsel who brings it down with his chest but is immediately pounced on by the Hungary defence. Guzmics gets hold of the ball and boots the danger away.

GOAL! Hungary 0-1 Belgium (Alderweireld, 9 min)

Samuel Lovett26 June 2016 20:11

GOAL! Hungary 0-1 Belgium (Alderweireld, 9 min): It's bread and butter stuff for Belgium. De Bruyne is awarded a free-kick after being brought down inside the Hungarian final third and steps up himself to deliver the ball into the box. Both Lukaku and Alderweireld race unmarked to meet the ball but it's the defender who gets their first to fire the ball into the back of the net with a powerful header. Simple stuff.

Samuel Lovett26 June 2016 20:12

38 min: Yet another chance for Belgium. Lukaku picks up play in acres of space between the Hungary defence and midfield line and surges forward to the penalty box. He sets up De Bruyne who lashes at the ball with his first touch but it's not enough to beat the keeper.
