Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Form guide…
England: DLWWDW
Spain: LWWDWW
30 mins: And now Walcott goes into the book for a cynical challenge on Azpilicueta. It's all getting a little bit scrappy now.
34 mins: Stones nearly plays a suicidal ball but Dier battles to get him out of it. The Man City defender just fired a waist-high pass at Dier which was nearly impossible to control. England somehow get away with it though.
38 mins: England are tearing Spain apart down this left-hand side. Sterling breaks free and fires in a devilish cross only inches away from the studs of Vardy. It's turned behind for a corner and Vardy can't quite sort his feet out to have a clean strike at it. All England so far.
43 mins: England just need to see this out until half time now and Southgate will be a very happy interim-cum-permanent manager.
45 mins: Two minutes added time but just enough for Rose to pick up a yellow card for a late chalenge on Carvajal.
Spain are back out on the Wembley turf... will there be any improvement from them? They were pretty poor for that first 45 minutes.
England, who were fantastic, join them.
Mata and Vitolo are off for Koke and Aspas for Spain.
For England, Jagielka comes on for Cahill and Tom Heaton replaces Joe Hart in goal.
46 mins: Straight away England are on the attack and force a corner through Walcott's deflected shot. Reina collects well though.
49 mins: GOAL! ENGLAND 2 (VARDY) SPAIN 0
It's a deep cross from Henderson after the ball breaks to him from Vardy's initial burst and the captain's cross - a little too high for Sterling - is met brilliantly by Vardy.
And a mannequin pose celebration to boot. Nearly as good as the one the Spanish defenders did while defending the goal.
