The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

VAR is having a very close look at the penalty incident to make sure there was contact from Semedo on Cairney. After a lot of replays, they agree that the wing-back did step on the Fulham captain's trailing foot, and after a quick check to make sure there wasn't an offside, the onfield decision stands!

PENALTY TO FULHAM! Cairney flew into a clean challenge on Lemina to get Fulham on the attack again, and when Pereira loses the ball, he takes over again. He skips away from Semedo, with the wing-back just stepping on his foot, and after a moment's thought, the referee points to the spot.

GOOD SAVE! Castagne slid in to make a vital block at the near post, and the resulting corner is swung in by Lemina. Cunha rises high to meet it at the far post, but Leno gets a strong hand behind his thumping header.

Twice in this second half so far, Robinson has made darting runs down the left which none of the Wolves players have picked up. His first cross was poor, but this one is drilled in, and Kilman stretches to stop it from reaching Jimenez.

SAVE! Cunha gets out a tight spot with some neat footwork and touches it back to Lemina. He takes it to the edge of the D before choosing to have a go himself, but he drags at his shot which Leno gets down to hold onto.

CHANCE! Wolves' aim is clear as they move it straight into the box from the kick-off. Doherty hooks it onto the penalty spot where Cunha is waiting, but he glances his header wide of the far post.

Silva will have been pleased with how his side started the game, but they dropped off slightly after that. They did start to reassert themselves just before the break though, and he'll be hoping to pick up where they left off. O'Neil wouldn't have been fazed by conceding so early with his team's knack for coming from behind. They responded well to that, but haven't created too many chances, something the manager will want to improve in the second half.

It's all square at the break, with Fulham and Wolves drawing 1-1. It was a great start for the hosts, who went ahead just seven minutes in, with Iwobi starting and finishing a good move as he guided his shot home. Cairney almost doubled their lead minutes later, only to be denied by a good save by Sa. Hwang had a glorious chance to equalise on the counter but smacked the bar from outside the box. Cunha did hit the back of the net though, thumping a bouncing header past Leno into the bottom corner.
