Everton and Newcaslte played out an entertaining 0-0 draw at Goodison Park. The visitors were the more controlling side and should have won the game after James Tarkowski dragged Sandro Tonali down in the box midway through the first half.
It was a clear penalty kick and, following a VAR intervention, the visitors had the opportunity to go ahead. Newcastle were awarded the spot kick but Anthony Gordon’s effort was kept out by a fabulous save from Jordan Pickford.
Gordon was a threa throughout and made life hard for his old club with his pace and skill at the top of the match. If truth it was an even contest.
Both managers attempted to change the momentum with substitutes from the bench but they had little effect and neither team could press on to win.

It was the first time since October 2022 Everton had won a league match having gone behind and after recent chastening experiences Dyche was pleased to get an important victory on the board against a team who are still searching for their first victory.
