Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne was recalled to the team to face his former club at Goodison Park.
Digne was one of three changes for the visitors who also brought back Jacob Ramsey and Leon Bailey, with Alex Moreno, Emiliano Buendia and former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho missing out.
Everton manager Sean Dyche, who has won both his home games since taking over from Frank Lampard, named the same team which beat Leeds last weekend.

Everton vs Aston Villa
Emery will need to make a tactical change at the break if Villa want a better chance of winning this game. They are not doing well in beating the Everton press and are not finding Watkins and Bailey in the right positions. Perhaps bringing on technical players such as Coutinho or Buendia will be his best call in this situation.
Everton vs Aston Villa
Everton were the better team in the first half and did everything but score. Their pressing was too much for Villa to handle as they often won possession in the attacking half and created a decent scoring opportunity. McNeil was heavily influential in the first period, terrorising Cash on the left wing as he sent in nine crosses. Onana came closest to opening the scoring with a header from close range, but Martinez made a good save to keep the scoreline level going into the break.

McNeil shoots from the free-kick but it is a very poor effort as the wall blocks the shot with ease.
