Everton vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League result, final score and reaction tonight
Demarai Gray hit a screamer in stoppage time to earn all three points for Everton over Arsenal after Richarlison cancelled out Martin Odegaard’s opener
Demarai Gray smashed home a long-range strike in the second minute of stoppage time to earn Everton a 2-1 victory over Arsenal and end the team’s eight-match winless run in the English Premier League on Monday. The winger cut in from the left and took aim with a fierce shot that flew in off the inside of the post, completing Everton‘s comeback after Richarlison’s equalizer in the 79th. It sparked scenes of jubilation at Goodison Park on a night there was a small protest by home fans inside the stadium at the board’s running of the club. It looked like Martin Odegaard’s volley in the second minute of first-half injury time was going to win the game for Arsenal, which was looking to climb back into fifth place with a victory. The visitors rode their luck, with Richarlison having two goals — a header in the 43rd and a low finish in the 57th — ruled out by video review because of marginal offside decisions. The Brazil forward kept plugging away and got his reward when he headed home a rebound after another powerful shot from Gray was tipped onto the crossbar by goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. It was Everton‘s first win since Sept. 25 and moved the team eight points clear of the relegation zone. In the 27th minute of the game, a section of Everton fans left their seats to signal their unhappiness at the board amid the club’s 27th season without a trophy Some of the fans were seen making their way toward the exits inside Goodison as play continued.

17 mins: The rain is really hammering down at Goodison Park, properly unpleasant weather. Arsenal have taken over possession but they haven’t been overly aggressive with it.
Everton immediately drop deeper and refuse to go chasing the ball. Kieran Tierney bursts forward and slides a pass to Martin Odegaard. He slots the ball over to Saka on the right side but he can’t find a way into the box. Instead he elects to pass the ball back to Partey who shoots from range and boots the ball straight out of play.

12 mins: Chance! A long ball from Pickford is won by Demarai Gray who knocks the ball down to Richarlison and sprints inside from the left wing. He receives the ball back and continues his run across the front of the box shifting away from the Arsenal centre-backs. Half a yard of space opens up in front of him and he shoots but belts his effort high and wide.

9 mins: Neither team has found their groove yet. There have been signs of potentially good attacks, with runs on the ball and a few decently threaded passes but they’ve all broken day by the time the ball has reached the opposition’s final third.
Thomas Partey attempts to thread Bukayo Saka into the box with a simple forward pass but it’s too far away from his teammate and Jordan Pickford easily scoops up the ball.

6 mins: Richarlison goes on a nice run and weaves his way in between two defenders but his pass towards the box is easily cut out and it comes to nothing.

3 mins: It’s been a positive start from Everton who have controlled the ball over these opening minutes and passed it nicely around the midfield. Michael Keane fires a forward pass up to Richarlison who flicks it in behind Takehiro Tomiyasu. Ben Godfrey flies forward with an overlapping run and collects the ball. He brings it into the box but slips and loses possession just as he enters the dangerzone.

Kick off: The players all take the knee before the Gunners get the ball rolling. It comes into Everton’s final third and the home side take over possession. They work the ball up to the inside left channel where Richarlison bursts forward and gets to the box before running into Arsenal defender Ben White.
Everton vs Arsenal: Here come the teams
The teams head out onto the pitch at Goodison Park. There has been talk of a planned protest and mass walk out from the Everton fans on the 27th minute of the game. This is down to dissatisfaction with the ownership and the direction the club is heading but the repsonse to the players coming onto the pitch is a loud one.
Everton vs Arsenal: Arteta on Goodison Park return
Mikel Arteta spent six years as an Everton player and spoke about returning to Goodison Park tonight saying:
It’s a special place to go back to because I had some amazing years there. I know what to expect going there under the lights.
“[Everton are] a team that wants to put things right and win so it will be a tough game,
“There are a lot of teams going through that [poor form] because this league has become that competitive that the moment you lose a game or two, the pressure is coming for everybody.”
