After suffering the humiliation of being eliminated by Sevilla in the round of 16 of last season's competition, Jose Mourinho's men are under pressure to make an impact on the European stage this time around.
Young Boys have never before made it into the Champions League group stage, and are hoping to upset the odds in a group that also includes Juventus and Valencia.

9 mins: Young Boys 0 - 0 Man Utd
Chance! Young Boys could've gone one up, they patiently move the ball around their own mid-field before Mbabu flicks a ball over the top to Assale, the ball then comes in from the right wing and Hoarau has a free header on goal that he sends wide
12 mins: Young Boys win another corner but Matic does well as the ball comes in, he gets enough of the ball for De Gea to clean up.
13 mins: Lukaku has a half-chance for Utd, he runs into the channel and receives the ball, his first touch takes it away from Camara but the defender stays with him and forces his shot wide of the near post.
15 mins: Corner for Young Boys. Camara challenges for the ball but Matic sends it away for a throw in, Young Boys look to work the ball back into Utd's box but Camara strikes one from 25 yards forcing De Gea into a save.
19 mins: Young Boys have had the better the better of the first half so far, Utd are just struggling to keep the ball enough to put an effective attack together
22 mins: Man Utd's defenders are working overtime at the minute, Smalling clears another cross into the box and Utd meander up the pitch. Shaw gets the ball out wide on the left and he drills a low cross into the path of Marcus Rashford who tries to flick the ball past Von Ballmoos at the near post but it's wide.
25 mins: Good defending from Luke Shaw, Young Boys try to probe a gap in Utd's defence with Mbabu coming down the right on the overlap but Shaw gets in between him and the ball and forces the foul.
28 mins: United are struggling to get the ball into the final third of the pitch, a foul against Pogba gives them the opportunity but they squander it again and have to track back as Young Boys press their advantage.
26 mins: Man City 0 - 1 Lyon
