From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Serie A leaders Juventus welcome Roma to Turin as the first of three games for Massimiliano Allegri's side in the next seven days before the winter break.

Juventus find themselves 22 points above Roma in the table, and their home draw to Genoa remains the only blemish on their otherwise perfect league record this season.

Eusebio Di Francesco's team meanwhile have lost all of their previous seven visits to the stadium and have won just twice in their last eight league games, the latest of which came against Genoa last weekend.

Player to watch…

Cristiano Ronaldo: The Portuguese decided the Turin derby in favour of his side with a well-taken penalty against Torino last weekend. It was his 12th goal in all competitions since joining the club from Real Madrid in the summer, and ensured that Juventus ground out a victory despite a lacklustre performance to extend their lead over second-placed Napoli to 11 points.

(Odds provided by 888 Sport)

85 min: Juventus 1-0 Roma

Quite a tepid last ten minutes from both sides, but with five minutes to go it still remains Juve's game.

Will Serie A see more drama tonight though in the closing stages?

90 min: Juventus 1-0 Roma

Roma have tried to pile men forward, but Szczesny has not been exposed as yet due to the heroics of Chiellini, the latest coming from a block from Zaniolo's shot.

Until that moment! The Pole makes a good save from Cristante's header from a free-kick from the right.

GOAL! Juventus 2-0 Roma (Costa 90+1')

That's the game decided in favour of Juventus, as Ronaldo's cut-back from the byline is sidefooted home by the Brazilian substitute.

But it's gone to VAR.....

90+2 min: Juventus 1-0 Roma

The goal is ruled out! The referee consults VAR and decides that Blaise Matuidi had fouled Zaniolo in the build up!

Douglas Costa is kept waiting for his first league goal of the season.

Full Time: Juventus 1-0 Roma

Another gameweek, another three points for Juventus, and it's that man Mario Mandzukic, just as he did against Inter Milan, who proves to be the difference again.

He headed home despite being second favourite for Matteo Di Sciglio's cross ten minutes before half time.

Cristiano Ronaldo will wonder how he didn't add to the scoreline with the chances he had, while Alex Sandro was also lively. Douglas Costa thought he had added a second but saw the goal ruled out by VAR.

Roma had a few opportunities but nothing that really tested Wojciech Szczesny.

The result ensures that Juventus will remain eight points clear at the top of the table at Christmas as they record their 16th league win in 17 games in what is turning out to be a remarkable season for Max Allegri with every passing week.
