From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Juventus find themselves 22 points above Roma in the table, and their home draw to Genoa remains the only blemish on their otherwise perfect league record this season.
Eusebio Di Francesco's team meanwhile have lost all of their previous seven visits to the stadium and have won just twice in their last eight league games, the latest of which came against Genoa last weekend.

Player to watch…
Cristiano Ronaldo: The Portuguese decided the Turin derby in favour of his side with a well-taken penalty against Torino last weekend. It was his 12th goal in all competitions since joining the club from Real Madrid in the summer, and ensured that Juventus ground out a victory despite a lacklustre performance to extend their lead over second-placed Napoli to 11 points.

5 min: Juventus 0-0 Roma
That's sloppy from Rodrigo Bentancur, who loses out to Zaniolo, but Nzonzi fires his teammate's lay-off over the bar.
9 min: Juventus 0-0 Roma
What a save from Olsen! Bentancur's long-range effort deflects off Mandzukic into the path of Alex Sandro.
The Brazilian looks set to celebrate his new contract with a goal here, but the Swede gets down well to his left to parry the shot.
14 min: Juventus 0-0 Roma
Roma have settled a little since the early scares and have managed to contain Juventus slightly better.
The hosts still enjoying the majority of possession though.
19 min: Juventus 0-0 Roma
Bit of frustration coming from both sets of players.
First Cengiz Under, who is said to be a target for Arsenal, complains after what he saw as a clear foul on him by Matuidi.
Cristiano Ronaldo similarly is left in shock with the referee's decision not to award a free-kick for a tug on the shirt.
Alex Sandro however continues his good start to the game, forcing a save from Olsen at his near post and then a block from Manolas from the resulting corner.
21 min: Juventus 0-0 Roma
Juventus certainly pose a threat going forward, but so do the visitors. This time it is Patrick Schick who rolls his defender, but his shot is tame and easily collected low by Szczesny.
23 min: Juventus 0-0 Roma
We saw Gareth Bale try one in the Club World Cup final, and now it's time for his former teammate to have a go.
Kostas Manolas makes a mess of clearing Mandzukic's header, and Ronaldo attempts to recreate his overhead kick against Juventus in the Champions League last season, but fires over the bar.
27 min: Juventus 0-0 Roma
Signs of a frustrated crowd already here at the Allianz Stadium, and it is understandable given their start to the season.
The latest attack breaks down after Ronaldo, of all people, takes a heavy touch and allows Davide Santon to clear.
30 min: Juventus 0-0 Roma
Legends on and off the field here at the Allianz Stadium. The Juve fans led a tribute to Claudio Marchisio before kick-off, while Francesco Totti is also in the stands to see his old side in action.
32 min: Juventus 0-0 Roma
Juve have just lost that spark in their play in the last five minutes or so.
Roma have as a consequence grown in confidence and Cengiz Under in particular looks to be a threat.
Alex Sandro has yet another effort meanwhile, but it poses no danger to Olsen's goal.
