England vs Denmark LIVE: Final score as Southgate gives blunt verdict after Three Lions booed at Euro 2024
Harry Kane gave England the lead before Southgate’s side dropped off with Denmark hitting back to secure a point in Frankfurt
England were far from convincing in a 1-1 draw with Denmark on Thursday, even if it likely ensured advancing to the round of 16 at the European Championship.
Harry Kane gave England another fast start at Euro 2024, scoring it the 18th minute, but the captain was substituted off in the second half as the team faded. England coach Gareth Southgate removed his forward line in a triple substitution with 25 minutes to play.
Denmark leveled in the 34th when Morten Hjulmand fired in a powerful low shot from long distance, after Kane gave away the ball in defense. The Danes made England look ragged in the second half, attacking the end from where English fans’ anxiety and jeers increased late in the game. England has four points from two games, after edging past Serbia 1-0 in its first match.
That points tally always has been enough to advance in the 24-team Euros format. Still, England can finish in any position from first to third in the Group C standings after playing unbeaten Slovenia next Tuesday.
Slovenia drew 1-1 with Serbia earlier Thursday, four days after getting the same result against Denmark. Serbia and Denmark also play Tuesday evening. Relive all the action and reaction from England v Denmark below:

77 mins: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg must have told his teammates he’s going to score today. He takes another shot from a long way out and gets it through to Jordan Pickford who scoops it up easily enough.

It isn't often Harry Kane is taken off, especially when there is something at stake, so it was a surprise to see his number come up, though the fact Ollie Watkins had a chance straight away may mean Southgate is looking for his ability to run in behind the Danish defence. His goal apart, Kane has had a quiet game. With the whole front three taken off, Phil Foden may have had more of a case to stay on.

72 mins: Ollie Watkins’s first involvement sees him nip in behind the Denmark defence as Jude Bellingham slots a pass into the box.
Watkins is tracked but manages to win a corner for England. Denmark defend it well.

69 mins: A speculative shot from Damsgaard is blitzed straight at Pickford who safely keeps it out. England don’t go very far with the ball as Denmark’s intense press sees them recover possession.
Southgate’s changes come now. Eberechi Eze, Jarrod Bowen and Ollie Watkins all come on to replace Phil Foden, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.
It’s a totally new forward line for England now.

He lifts a cross over to the box post but there’s too much on it and Phil Foden can’t reach the ball. Gareth Southgate is prepping some changes on the sidelines.

He shoots from range but the ball is always rising and flies over the top.

Bah launches a throw into the box but the flick on comes to Saka who hooks it clear.

Phil Foden drifts inside and once again looks dangerous on the ball. He shoots from range and drills his effort into the post. The rebound comes towards Bukayo Saka but the winger can’t get the ball target and nudges it out for a goal kick.

Trent Alexander-Arnold decides to go over the top with Bukayo Saka the only willing runner in behind. He manages to get the better of Andreas Christensen but, under pressure from the goalkeeper, can only nod his effort into the side-netting.
England are starting to find their feet again.
Conor Gallagher comes onto the pitch and replaces Alexander-Arnold.
