Pep Guardiola rotated his side after the 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig in the Champions League, with Rico Lewis, Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez all coming in in place of Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez as City looked to cut the gap on leaders Arsenal.
Kevin De Bruyne, who missed the Leipzig game through illness, was fit enough only for the substitutes bench.
Bournemouth were without the injured Marcus Tavernier for the visit of City, so Gary O’Neil brought Chris Mepham into the team in what was the only change from the Cherries’ win against Wolves last time out.

Gary O'Neil's side have now taken five points from their last four Premier League games, which moved them out of the relegation zone, though they have subsequently dropped down to 19th. After claiming a first victory since O'Neil was named permanent manager, the Cherries now aim to claim consecutive top-flight wins for the first time since February 2020. However, they have endured England's longest winless run against a single opponent: the South Coast side have never beaten Manchester City in 17 previous league meetings, with 15 ending in defeat.
