Pep Guardiola rotated his side after the 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig in the Champions League, with Rico Lewis, Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez all coming in in place of Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez as City looked to cut the gap on leaders Arsenal.
Kevin De Bruyne, who missed the Leipzig game through illness, was fit enough only for the substitutes bench.
Bournemouth were without the injured Marcus Tavernier for the visit of City, so Gary O’Neil brought Chris Mepham into the team in what was the only change from the Cherries’ win against Wolves last time out.
