Bayern Munich vs Man City LIVE: Result and reaction from Champions League quarter-final as City cruise through
Bayern Munich 1-1 Man City (1-4 agg): Erling Haaland missed a penalty before later scoring as Pep Guardiola’s men set up a semi-final against Real Madrid
Erling Haaland scored as Manchester City advanced to a Champions League semi-final rematch with Real Madrid after a 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich in the second leg of their quarter-final on Wednesday.
The Norwegian superstar missed a first-half penalty but atoned as City achieved smooth progress with a 4-1 win on aggregate by scoring the opening goal on a counter-attack in the 57th minute, just after Bayern missed a good chance at the other end.
Bayern’s lack of confidence after losing the first leg 3-0 in Manchester showed as they failed to take advantage of numerous chances. Joshua Kimmich scored the Bavarian powerhouses’ consolation from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute after City defender Manuel Akanji was penalised for handball but it was immaterial to the outcome.

20 mins: Oh Bayern are lucky.
Kevin De Bruyne threads a pass through the middle of the pitch and picks out Erling Haaland. Haaland drives towards goal and is shoved over by Dayot Upamecano - Bayern’s last defender.
The referee pulls out a straight red card for the defender but the assistant referee raises the offside flag and Upamecano has a reprieve.
VAR confirms that Haaland just strayed off so Upamecano didn’t legally foul him.

17 mins: MISS! Bayern Munich create the best chance of the night so far after turning the ball over in midfield and passing it quickly up to Leroy Sane.
Sane nudges the ball past John Stones and carries it into the left side of the penalty area. Ederson comes out to close him down but Sane gets the shot away and guides it just wide of the far post!
That’s a massive chance missed.

15 mins: Bernardo Silva dips his shoulder and gets into space on the right side for Man City. Their first real attack sees Bernardo drill the ball in towards the near post where Ilkay Gundogan is arriving.
Yann Sommer dives towards the ball and manages to smother it before Gundogan can prod it home. Better from City though.

12 mins: City’s left side is taking a hammering at the minute with Nathan Ake unable to live up to the speed and strength of Kingsley Coman.
Bayern’s end product hasn’t been great so far though which is good news for City. Joao Cancelo gives away a free kick and earns a yellow card - the first of the match.

9 mins: Manchester City have won 10 games in a row and have only conceded four times during that streak. Bayern have started well tonight though.
Coman gets into space on the right side and whips in an early cross. Choupo-Moting arrives into the box late but the ball just flies over his head and City boot it clear.

6 mins: Ruben Dias dallies too long on the ball and runs it into the path of Kingsley Coman deep inside Man City’s half. Coman takes over possession and slips it into the box for Eric Choupo-Moting who is immediately flagged offside.
That could have been embarrassing for the City defender but Dias gets away with the mistake.

3 mins: It would not be out of the question for Manchester City to sit back and look to defend their aggregate lead but that is not the way that Pep Guardiola’s men are made.
They’re pressing high up the pitch and are looking to catch Bayern in possession. So far the hosts have been up to the challenge.
Kick off: Bayern Munich 0-0 Man City (0-3 agg)

It’s a pretty intimidating sight and Manchester City will hope to silence the crowd. If they can score early then all the pressure will come off them.
