Hosts India bundled out Pakistan for 191 in 42.5 overs before quickly chasing down their target to win a World Cup blockbuster between the Asian arch-rivals at a heaving Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday.

Put in to bat, Pakistan were on 155-2 in the 30th over and appeared to be cruising towards a 300-plus total with skipper Babar Azam (50) and in-form batter Mohammad Rizwan (49) at the crease. But India’s Mohammed Siraj then dismissed Babar, triggering a spectacular collapse, with Pakistan unable to hold out for the rest of their quota of 50 overs. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers, claiming 2-19 in a clinical display of his distinctive style of seam bowling.

Rohit Sharma then fired 86 from 63 balls en route to a quick win, as India extended their record to three from three. Get the latest Cricket World Cup odds here.

Shadab Khan keen to silence India crowd at World Cup

Shadab Khan: It's a mental game, when I played champions trophy, I was 18, the emotion goes high. I say to the players, do the basics right. This atmosphere? You have to enjoy it.

“We want to silence the crowd early. When the game starts, hopefully the crowd will be silent most of the time.

“There’s less pressure on Babar, everybody chips in now, it takes pressure off the batting unit. My form is good, I didn’t take wickets, but hopefully I’ll take wickets in this one.

“7-0? That’s in the past. We have done it before and can do it again.”

“It’ll come from the younger players to lay the platform for Babar to take centre stage.”

India vs Pakistan: Hosts win toss and bowl first

Here comes the toss...

Rohit Sharma has WON the toss, a huge cheer, INDIA WILL BOWL FIRST!

Sharma: “It's not going to change much, it's better to chase! Come out and play good cricket every day, it’s a World Cup, every game, it’s a new start, play well with every opportunity.

“The most important factor, keep yourself relaxed, there are ways to do that, everybody has their own ways to deal with it. We have some characters to keep it lively.

“Gill is back in place of Ishan, unfortunate for Ishan, I feel for him, he stepped up, but Gill has been a super player for us.”

England’s Reece Topley cracking on with ‘unfinished business’ at World Cup

Reece Topley insisted he was just getting started on his “unfinished business” in World Cup cricket after blowing Bangladesh away with four wickets in Dharamshala.

Topley claimed four for 43 as England coasted to victory against the Tigers, making a big impression after being recalled to the side following defeat to New Zealand.

It was a welcome day in the sun for a 29-year-old who has had to endure more than his fair share of dark times due to a litany of injury problems that could easily have ended his career.
