India v England LIVE: Cricket World Cup result and reaction as defending champions beaten by 100 runs

England have slumped to yet another heavy defeat, this time collapsing in a run chase as India claim victory by 100 runs to maintain their flawless start to their Cricket World Cup.
The defending World Cup champions have lost four matches in a row, are all but eliminated and had no answers to the bowling of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. They both starred in the powerplay as England collapsed from 30 without loss to 39 for four and were unable to recover and even get close to the total.
India, meanwhile, have been outstanding, Rohit Sharma’s side have won every game to justify their position as favourites with real quality and depth with the bat and ball.
Liam Livingstone top-scored with 27 in a sorry-looking scorecard for England, but that should take nothing away from India who were exceptional.

Bairstow has played on and there is another wicket! England just needed to weather this period and instead the wickets have tumbled.

There has never been a better moment for Jos Buttler to find form. He has been completely out of nick in this tournament so far, but he remains one of the country’s greatest-ever white-ball players.
Bairstow has been dropped by Kohli! That has flown through, and hit the top of his hand.
Buttler has a boundary last ball of the over.
Wicket! Stokes out for 0! England 33-3
Shami is causing Stokes problems here, there’s another play and a miss.
England and Stokes are firmly on the back foot here, and it just looks like it’s becoming a case of survival.
That was a dreadful innings from Stokes! He has swung at that and swiped across the line, the ball nipped back into middle and leg stump.
England 33-2 (7) Bairstow 13, Stokes 0, Bumrah 2-11 (4)
Bumrah is on a hat-trick here after taking two in two with the last two balls of his previous over, and it was on target, but just a dot ball.
Bairstow is just hanging on here, but that is what England need. Someone has to dig in and know that the runs can come later, just absorb the pressure for a bit.
That was a maiden from Bumrah.
England 33-2 (6) Bairstow 13, Stokes 0, Shami 0-3 (1) need 197 runs to win
Bairstow has knocked the ball around well against Shami, a two off the first ball and a single off the next will bring Ben Stokes on strike for the first time in the match.
He just watches the first one as it moves outside the off stump.
Stokes has gone for a massive shot here and completely missed it. Stokes has missed another...this is suddenly all looking bad for England.
Wicket! Root out for a golden duck! England 30-2
That was an ideal over from Bumrah, he went for a boundary and re-adjusted came back and bowled one that Malan could only play on.
And he has another! England have reviewed but Root was struck on the pads first ball.
The crowd had been a bit quiet, but they have erupted here now! Root has reviewed it but that makes no difference. He got his footwork all wrong.
Root couldn’t get bat on that. Bumrah is on a hat-trick...
Wicket! Malan out for 16! England 30-1
Malan has another boundary and this time off Bumrah, he loves a cover drive.
He has waited, played it late and played with the swing.
The change of angle has worked for Bumrah and Malan has played on! He went for another cut square and it was just too close for him, cramped him for room and he has played on!
India have their first wicket.

Bairstow sends Siraj to the boundary for 4 from the first ball of his second over.
Siraj is just down looking at the strapping on his ankle.
Other than the four it was a tight over from the India bowler.

Malan tries to flick one off his pads, but missed it and it has been called wide.
Bumrah is causing Malan all sorts of problems here. There is a two from the over, but this will be a challenge for the opening pair.
England 17-0 (2) Bairstow 4, Malan 10, Siraj 0-12 (1)
Siraj has started with a big wide...the third ball of the over is also called wide, it wasn’t as far away but still down the leg side.
One step and six! That was an unbelievable shot from Malan to open his account with a maximum.
It wasn’t a bad ball, but one step and bang!
He follows it up with a four next ball down the ground!
