From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It is heartbreak for England. Football is not coming home.
The Three Lions' World Cup dream has come to an end after the side were beaten 2-1 after a nail-biting 30-minute extra-time.
Kieran Trippier's 5th-minute free-kick catapulted England into the lead and gave the squad the confidence they needed to reach the final.
But it all came crashing down after Ivan Perisic's equaliser took the game to extra-time where Mario Mandzukic's 109th-minute strike took them into the final.
Despite the blood, the sweat, the tears, England still have to face Belgium on Saturday to secure third place, while Croatia will stay in Moscow for the final against Les Bleus.

Shappi Khorsandi: 'I didn't know you were a football fan' THIS IS NOT FOOTBALL! This is our country displaying its grace, strength and determination to the world and later showing our tremendous skills of removing grass stains from whites.
Mark Steel: I love Pickford's rants every time Croatia get a shot in. I think once he's screamed at his defence, he should start shouting at random individuals in the crowd.
Mark Steel: Oh Harry Harry Harry, I reckon he'll make up for that miss by whacking one in from 40 yards.
Shappi Khorsandi: The goal didn't go in. It's ok. Let it go. STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!
Mark Steel: I wish Lingard had shot like that against Palace in the cup final. Still, I suppose now is not the time to be bitter.
