Royal fans think the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may pay tribute to Princess Diana by choosing to name one of her siblings as the baby's godparent.

Traditionally, royal children have more than two godparents. Prince Louis has six, Princess Charlotte has five, and Prince George has seven.

The newborn baby's godparents will most likely be named on the morning of his christening in a few months.

Following the birth of the royal baby on Monday, donations to child-focused charity Baby2Baby have increased - a month after the charity received an influx in donations following an Instagram post on the Sussex Royal account.

Last month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex asked followers to consider donating to four charities, including the Los Angeles-based Baby2Baby.

Since then, founders Norah Weinstein and Kelly Sawyer Patricof told People they have seen donations from all over the globe.

"Our donors are generally mostly in the US, so to have people from Guadalajara to Italy donating to Baby2Baby has been really exciting," Sawyer Patricof said. "Not only have we received the monetary donations but also so many of the basic essentials that we distribute have been growing – cribs, diapers, toothbrushes, baby blankets, pajamas, all sorts of product donations of the basic essentials that we provide to children in need."
