From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Xbox is hosting its E3 conference, during which it is expected to unveil its next gen console and the games that will be played on it.

The event will allow Xbox to reveal the new titles coming over the next year and beyond.

And it will be the biggest event of the conference, since PlayStation has decided to avoid the gaming event entirely and will not be hosting a press conference.

As well as the next generation console, Microsoft is expected to show off a new Halo game, updates on Game Pass and its streaming service Project xCloud, as well as potentially unexpected Xbox games.

Gears of War! With a very disturbing though not especially enlightening trailer.

Andrew Griffin9 June 2019 21:54

Gears 5 will be released September 10. But you can get on it four days early if you buy the Ultimate Edition or play on the new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

More will be announced this summer. Players can join the versus multiplayer text test in July. And at Gamescom players will be able to go hands-on with the new Horde mode. And in September it will finally come out.

But today they're talking about "Escape". This is a game where you infiltrate a base, plant a bomb, and then leave. "It's everything you love about Gears turned up to 11."

The floor just opened up and a load of fireworks came out.

Then the camera buried under the stage and we could see this:

That was for a trailer of what appears to be that mode, with three people breaking into a base and fighting to plant the aforementioned bomb. Lots of gore, disgusting looking beasts and chainsaws, as you'd expect.

Tune in tonight on Mixer to watch three WWE superstars try and get through one of those Hives. (Fitting, since that stage thing was very WWE.)

If you pre-order Gears, or play it in the first week, you'll get access to a special Terminator pack.

There's a new version of the Elite Xbox controller. It looks very similar:

But has been improved in a variety of ways, including a new charging dock.

Dying Light 2 now.

Some new Forza Horizon 4 content. And it's.... Lego?

Andrew Griffin9 June 2019 22:06

There's a Lego version of the McLaren Senna on stage, made of about half a million bricks. You'll be able to drive that car, as well as a load of others from Lego Speed Champions.
