Lewis Hamilton took victory in the British Grand Prix for a record sixth time, moving him clear of Alain Prost and Jim Clark as the most successful driver at Silverstone, though it did not come without it's drama in a thrilling race.

Hamilton inherited the lead when the safety car was deployed due to a spin for Antonio Giovinazzi, with Valtteri Bottas already pitting where Hamilton had not. Behind them, a raging battle between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc ended in favour of the Ferrari man, but only after Verstappen was taken out of third when battling with Sebastian Vettel - who received a 10-second penalty for the collision.

Verstappen was able to salvage fifth place behind his Red Bull teammate Pierre Gasly, while Vettel finished down in 15th. Re-live the action below.

The British Grand Prix takes place on Sunday 14 July at 2:10pm BST.

Lap 11: Verstappen tries to go around the outside of Leclerc through The Loop but Leclerc defends well and that puts Vettel onto the gearvox of Verstappen! The German has a run down the outside into Brooklands, but Verstappen holds the position.

Lap 12: Gasly dives down the inside of Vettel into Village! The Red Bull driver rtakes fifth, and holds into the position despite Vettel fighting back down the Wellington Straight. A great move from the Red Bull youngster.

Lap 13: Gasly pits from fifth to remove any chance of Vettel undercutting him and committing him to a two-stopper in all likelihood. Will Ferrari respond? They do! Leclerc and Verstappn both pit at the end of the next lap.

Lap 14: They're side by side! Verstappen is just ahead of Leclerc and takes the position as they leave the pits, but Verstappen goes wide out of The Loop and Leclerc retakes the place!

Jack de Menezes14 July 2019 14:34

Lap 15: Was that an unsafe release? Leclerc and Verstappen were racing, but the Red Bull team did release Verstappen straight into the path of Leclerc and the McLaren team were out in the next pit box and had to take evasive action to prevent themselves from being hit.

Lap 16: Behind the lead six, Ricciardo has undercut Norris in the battle for seventh, with the Renault team getting him out in front of the McLaren in the fight to be the best of the rest.

Jack de Menezes14 July 2019 14:37

Lap 17: Bottas pits from the lead. Hamilton stays out for at least another lap.

Jack de Menezes14 July 2019 14:38

Lap 18: Leclerc and Verstappen are locked in a dogfight but the Red Vull just can'tfind a way past the Ferrari. Meanwhile there is a pit lane incident under investigation, though it's for Norris and Albon and not these two.

Jack de Menezes14 July 2019 14:40

Lap 19: Hamilton is staying out for now, but all eyes are on the fight behind. The crowd gasps as Verstappen runs wide at Luffield and a puff of gravel dust rises, and Leclerc then nearly hits Verstappen in defending into Stowe as he just maintains position. No further action on the Norris-Albon incident, by the way.

Jack de Menezes14 July 2019 14:42

Lap 20: Verstappen radios in to the team to complain, saying "he's moving too late" about Leclerc's defensive moves. Hamilton is still out, but Giovinazzi has gone off at Vale and is stuck in the gravel, and this could be safety car territory.
