Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Shark NZ801UKT anti hair wrap pet vacuum cleaner: Was £349, now £199
A leader when it comes to household appliances and cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch’s go-to brand, this Shark upright cleaner currently has a whopping £150 off – and it just so happens to be one of our favourite models. Featuring in our guide to the best pet vacuum cleaners, our reviewer praised it for being a “versatile machine with some nifty pet-related tricks up its sleeve”, such as a soft roller that works in conjunction with the anti-hair-wrap brush to catch longer hairs. This system, along with the lift away feature, which allows the cylinder to disconnect from the body of the vacuum to give you more reach, worked well for our tester.
Le Creuset cast iron round casserole pot, 26cm: Was £218, now £156
A brand that has been around for nearly 100 years, Le Creuset is famed for its brightly coloured enamel cookware. But, while its products have become a real status item of the home, they’re also notoriously expensive. If you’ve been looking to add something from the label to your kitchen, now is the time because you can save a whopping 40 per cent off this cast iron round casserole pot.
In our review of the pot, our tester described it as “versatile” as it can be used in the oven and under the grill, as well as on top of gas and electric hobs. “It’s certainly big, and is great for bulk cooking, feeding large families or catering dinner parties (when that’s allowed again). But of course, it’s still fine if you’re cooking for smaller numbers – it’s better to size up than to struggle with overflow, in our opinion,” they said.
John Lewis and Partners 400 thread count Egyptian cotton double duvet cover: Was £80, now £44.80
Egyptian cotton bedding is renowned for its luxurious feel and is on any homebody’s shopping wish-list. But, most sets don’t come cheap. Luckily, John Lewis is offering a huge saving on its own-brand range of duvet covers, like this one which is crafted from high quality 400 thread count Egyptian cotton in a percale weave, for a smooth, matte finish.
A great option for anyone who loves the crisp feel of freshly laundered linen, this cover is designed to fresh and cool against the skin. Egyptian cotton is also celebrated for its superior strength and durability, meaning it will last you for many years.
Technics EAH-F70N noise-cancelling wireless Bluetooth headphones: Was £359.99, now £251
Whether you enjoy listening to music while working out, or want a hands-free audio experience while on the go, a pair of wireless headphones are a must. You can currently save £109 on this pair from Technics, the brand best-known for its superior turntables. This model featured in our round-up of the best noise-cancelling headphones, with our reviewer describing the audio “immersive and punchy”.
“Slick design and great build quality are nothing new for Technics but are certainly in evidence here with these sophisticated-looking headphones,” they said. “The soft earcups have enough pressure to hold them in place snugly, but are still very comfortable. Noise cancelling is adjustable to three different levels and works well, including at the highest level. Like the Sony over-ear headphones, you let ambient noise in by touching the right earcup.”
Samsung Galaxy tab A7 tablet: Was £219, now £179
You will be able to immerse yourself fully in both work and entertainment with this tablet, which has quad speakers powered by Dolby Atmos technology and a high-quality display that provides fun experience, whether you’re using it to browse online or stream your favourite films. A similar model, the Samsung Galaxy tab S7+, won best buy in our round-up of the best tablets. Our tester said the gadget “looks glorious” and also praised its “fast processor which is highly responsive”.
Sony Bravia KD55AG9 OLED HDR 4K TV: Was £1,599, now £1,349
As we’re spending more time at home binge-watching box sets, a good TV is an essential piece of kit. This Sony model, which has a stunning 55in OLED screen, currently has £250 off so you’ll want to act fast if you want to snap one up. It features the brand’s “acoustic surface audio+” system, which uses the screen itself as the speaker for exceptionally accurate sound. The Android platform opens up a wealth of online content, you can control it by voice with the Google Assistant, and its minimalist design is supremely elegant.
Asus Chromebook flip C434TA-AI0403 Laptop: Was £599.99, now £549.99
For many people working from home, a speedy laptop is hot property right now, so it pays to find the right one. This model featured in our round-up of the best Chromebooks for fast connection, with our tester praising its “attractive design and decent specs”.
“The flip in the title refers to the way the laptop folds back on itself. The machine is reasonably small thanks to slim bezels that maximise screen size. It’s a good screen, too,” they said. “The backlit keyboard is comfortable and spacious, even though the laptop is smaller than some other 14in screen machines. Battery life is also better than many Chromebooks. Compatible with Android apps from the Google play store.”
Longchamp le pilage club backpack: Was £85, now £63
With alfresco meetings with friends on the horizon, you’re going to need a stylish and spacious bag that can keep stock of all your essentials. We love this light blue backpack from Longchamp because it’s ideal if you want to keep your hands free for a cup of coffee (or a can of wine). The design is inspired by the neat folds of origami, is decorated with tone-on-tone leather trimming and also has an embroidered detail of the brand's signature horse. Featuring adjustable shoulder straps for comfort and a top handle for grab-and-go appeal, this is a bag that’s been built to last.

The mid-layer jacket is made with goose down for superb warmth and minimal weight, making it the ideal choice for staying warm and mobile in any weather. There’s an internal chest pocket for your essentials, too. Great for light travelling, the jacket is also stowable in its own hand pocket.
Estee Lauder double wear foundation: Was £34, now £28
Whether this is already your go-to foundation or you want to give it a go for the first time, Estée Lauder’s double wear will make a worthy addition to your make-up bag.
The brand’s long-standing favourite featured in our round-up of the best foundations for pale skin, but the reviewer praised it for coming in a phenomenal 61 shades, with plenty of cool and warm tones. “It offers medium, buildable coverage, is comfortable to wear and stays put all day, even through high humidity,” they said. “Those with dry skin may find it leaves cheeks papery after a few hours wear, so you need to start with a well-moisturised base.”
