Mary-Kate Findon

Mary-Kate moved to London to join The Independent as a Short Form Content Editor in the summer of 2022. After beginning her career in local radio and papers in Ireland, Mary-Kate moved into the realm of social media content gathering and reporting in 2019 as an editor with Dataminr, sending real-time breaking news alerts to newsrooms across the globe. While with Dataminr, Mary-Kate was also the Editorial Point of Contact for the Western Europe desk. Before joining the Indy, Mary-Kate worked to source and verify social media videos as a Senior Journalist with Storyful, authenticating content from stories such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the fatal crowd crush at Travis Scott's Astroworld Festival, and the aftermath of the 2021 withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
