Starmer says Labour government would freeze council tax
Sir Keir Starmer says Labour would freeze council tax rates using windfall tax funds if it was in government.
The Labour leader made the comment as he launched the party's English local election campaign.
"Yes, you heard it right. Not a penny more on your council tax - not a penny more than the bill you paid last year," he said.
He described it as a "tax cut for the 99 per cent of working people."
It comes as 1 April will see rates for millions of English households go up by as much as five per cent.
